Quite the stepping day! Mostly thanks to my local ladies hike group, we did nearly 3.5 miles this morning on a trail that was new to me. One that led up, up, up! The desert still thinks it's spring! We came across some wildflowers that I don't know, blooming cholla cacti, lots of purple scorpion weed flowers, mounds of blooming brittle bush and several elephant trees, which is related to Frankincense. Their leaves smell divine! #getoutside#hikeday#holidaystressrelief#healthgoals#naturenurture#beautifulcreation
One more Kanawha State Forest post for you. In total, there are nearly 50 miles of public trails for hikers. I love exploring all of these beautiful paths. According to the forest’s superintendent, bikers are the largest group of people in the park now. I haven’t actually tried mountain biking there. Do any of you have experience biking there?
A botanical wonderland disguised as a desert 🌵 the video is from the same moment I took the photo, it’s not very good and I couldn’t flip it, but you can hear the birds and that’s what really matters 🙈😋
A little late to the party, but...Happy International Mountain Day! Cracks me up how everyday there’s always something to “celebrate” but it’s also kind of awesome, right?! Everyday is an opportunity to find something positive in... and when you can’t or it’s a little harder...just find out what holiday it is! 😂💕🎉
📍The Matterhorn ➸ Hamlet of Findeln - Zermatt, Switzerland.
We arrived late in Zermatt and made our way through the dark streets to an eerily empty hostel. We froze all night because no one of realized there was a heater in the room 😂 In the morning we asked the receptionist for a hike recommendation with the best view of the Matterhorn. When we walked out the door we only had to look up and there it was! It was stunning to say the least. We took the Five Lakes hike as suggested. I split from the group early so I could go at my own & much slower pace 😄 I hiked up to the hamlet of Findeln. There was not a soul in sight!! Everything was closed and it was incredibly peaceful. I wandered a bit and enjoyed the view of one of the most iconic mountains in the world. .
We are back to the Faroe Islands, a hikers’ dream! 🙏 ⛰😍
The village of Saksun near the northwest coast of the island of Streymoy is splendidly set on a hillside and is one of the most worthwhile destinations of the Faroes. 30 people who live here welcome the tourists to their beautiful church and a museum.
