S is for “Shalom”
Many are familiar with the Hebrew word shalom or “peace.” The common western definition of peace is — the absence of conflict or war — but in Hebrew it means so much more. “Shalom” is taken from the root word shalam, which means, “to be safe in mind, body, or estate.” It speaks of completeness, fullness, or a type of wholeness that encourages you to give back — to generously re-pay something in some way.
True biblical shalom refers to an inward sense of completeness or wholeness. Although it can describe the absence of war, a majority of biblical references refer to an inner completeness and tranquility. In Israel today, when you greet someone or say goodbye, you say, Shalom. You are literally saying, “may you be full of well-being” or, “may health and prosperity be upon you.”
If this is the way we understand biblical peace, then suddenly many verses take on a whole new meaning. -By Dough Hershey
Did you catch my IG Stories today? I took you with me to one of my favorite @Target stores. I love it because it has the prettiest displays, including this beautiful Hearth & Hand area. They have freshened this collection up for spring and added these stunning large wall hanging baskets!

Happy Friday! Nothing quite like a clean sunlit filled bathroom! 😉
You know how sometimes you make a Target run earlier in the day, can’t decide whether to buy something you didn’t know you needed, then end up coming back at 10:45pm because you decided you actually did need it and couldn’t wait any longer? That’s what this plate was.
Pro tip: add a large mirror to your sitting room, it makes your space look much bigger, and it can be a beautiful accent piece. This antique mirror surrounded by London’s Designer’s guild wall coverings is so chic and such a statement piece. And let’s not forget this incredible fireplace with carved wood corbels, it ties in the space and makes it a perfectly cozy sitting room.
What do I see in this picture?!? Dreams... For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to live on a farm... then I married a man with the same dream. Together, we are making it happen!
What you don’t see in this picture?!? Reality! Ten minutes ago, I was vacuuming popcorn and wiping down the table. You don’t see all the paint marks on the table from lots and lots of art projects. Trust me... they are there! You don’t see the room right beside this with rugs down for carpet since it isn’t finished yet. You don’t see the pile of trash in the yard large enough to fill a truck. You don’t see the endless outdoor projects waiting for our attention.
My point?!? Dreams are hard work and a process. I work hard! My husband works hard! Some may not know that I have two jobs. Along with raising three kids, I’m a full-time teacher and also own my own skincare business with Rodan and Fields. We were willing to go the extra mile for our family dreams! What’s life without visions and goals?! You can reach your dreams/goals! Write it down and work your tail off, but make sure to enjoy the process! ❤️ #rfblessed#workhard#teachersofinstagram#target#hearthandhand#hearthandhandmagnolia#hobbylobby

Do you decorate for Easter? What’s your design style? Bright pops of color or are you more subdued?
I have never really been one to decorate for Easter, I like to keep my decor versatile for the season, nothing to specific to just one day. So most of my decor this time of year is just spring themed.
But today I was feeling a little left out after seeing all the cute Easter decor around @Target and wanted to get a little something that was “Easter-y” (that’s totally a word). .
I found this cute little bunny that would look great on our table. I wasn’t sure if I was going to use it here as pictured or on our coffee table tray, but I think I like it here! What do you think? Should I leave my little Babs Bunny 🐰 here? (If you don’t name your ceramic animal statues you haven’t lived) .
I’m starting another sort of weird, unconventional DIY kitchen project this weekend... my impatience is doing wonders for my DIY skills!
Cross your fingers it turns out well please🤞🏼!! If it doesn’t, we’ll just forget I mentioned it😬 #coecasa
When I saw these @magnolia placemats a few months ago, I really loved them. I decided to make my own white placemats with embroidered ✖️’s because it would be cheaper. And then I didn’t because it would take a long time. 😂 And then they weren’t online or in stores anymore, so I gave up on the idea. And then I found four at a Target in Louisville and decided to just buy them. #noregrets#hearthandhand

There are two things I will always order at a restaurant no matter what the main dish is—sweet potato fries & cornbread 🌽 if either of those comes with it, that’s what I’m gonna order 😋⠀
Is that just me, or does anyone else have foods like that they just can’t pass up? ⠀
THIS Fluffy Zucchini Cornbread by @melskitchencafe (you can find the recipe on her website) is THE best cornbread I’ve ever had. ⠀
It may seem weird at first to add zucchini to cornbread but it’s totally not! Just think zucchini bread but cornbread! It makes and keeps the cornbread super moist and adds sweetness as well. (And don’t worry, this is not one of those recipes where you’re just trying to hide vegetables in things 😂 it’s just plain delicious!)⠀
This is maybe the most adorable wallpaper print I’ve ever seen...Thanks to @anewalldecor for sharing this beautiful design with us and thanks to my husband and in-laws for spending their Saturday morning putting it up, the playroom is feeling nearly there!

This is from our kitchen/family room through our playroom. The wallpaper is “Oh Deer!” by @anewalldecor and the rug is @plushrugs. The floor in the laundry area was green laminate and I painted over it with Floor & Patio paint but someday we will match it with the rest of the hardwood.
The idea with this bathroom makeover (Swipe for before) was to spend as little money as possible since we are redoing our kitchen this year. So I pretty much painted everything instead of replacing it - the tile, the walls after ripping off the wallpaper, and the baseboard heat unit. I bought two $25 packages of TrafficMaster Carrara Marble Stick Vinyl Tile and did the world’s sloppiest flooring job ever, but thankfully grout is forgiving! I found the vintage chandelier at an antique store but linked to a couple on Etsy. Paint: @benjaminmoore White Dove (trim) Nightfall (walls) .
Also please forgive the “before” shot - I always forget to take good before shots and had to go back and find ones I had sent my sister! #email@example.com
