This is so important and it’s applicable to almost anything in life. If you solely focus your journey on perfection then you will become tired and defeated SO quickly.
Everyone makes mistakes, everyone has their own weaknesses and no one is perfect except our creator.
It doesn’t matter if your journey is physical, financial, spiritual, emotional or anything else. Striving for perfection will hurt you because you’ll naturally only see your shortcomings rather than how far you may have come or the little victories.
What we should be striving for is progress. We should be striving for taking that extra time, going the extra mile, reaching the first goal or celebrating even the little victories.
Focusing on how to grow and learn all while celebrating your progress is what will benefit you. Anything takes hard work and consistency. Celebrate the fact the you may have done one thing differently to improve your journey than the day before.
You can do this!
Good nutrition, based on healthy eating is one essential factor that helps us to stay healthy and be active.
What causes poor nutrition?
Poor eating habits include under- or over-eating, not having enough of the healthy foods we need each day, or consuming too many types of food and drink, which are low in fibre or high in fat, salt and/or sugar.
These unhealthy eating habits can affect our nutrient intake, including energy (or kilojoules) protein, carbohydrates, essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals as well as fibre and fluid.
How does poor nutrition affect us?
Poor nutrition can impair our daily health and wellbeing and reduce our ability to lead an enjoyable and active life.
In the short term, poor nutrition can contribute to stress, tiredness and our capacity to work, and over time, it can contribute to the risk of developing some illnesses and other health problems such as:
1. being overweight or obese
2. tooth decay
3. high blood pressure
4. high cholesterol
5. heart disease and stroke
6. type-2 diabetes
8. some cancers
10. eating disorders
Steps to good nutrition - it’s easier than you think
A good place to start is to:
1. have a good variety of healthy foods from the five food groups each day.
2. aim for two serves of fruit and five serves of vegetables each day
3. only occasionally eat sugary, fatty or salty food, and then only in small amounts
4. drink fresh, clean tap water instead of sugary drinks
5. switch over to healthy recipes that look and taste good
6. plan your meals ahead and shop for healthy ingredients
7. enjoy cooking and eating healthy food with family or friends and without distractions such as the television.
Drink your coffee☕️ but make sure it’s a moderate amount.
Ever feel like you are on high alert or within your body or mind?🙋🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ Are you filling your cup over and over throughout the day to stay awake or keep the buzz going?
Did you know that caffeine leads the body to create adrenaline which puts you in “flight or fight” mode?! (Your body thinks it’s facing stress or danger)
When you’re consistently in this state of high alert from drinking a whole pot of coffee or because you’re highly stressed for a work deadline (our brains don’t know the difference) your sympathetic nervous system is being over worked💥 which can eventually lead to a break down of the nervous system.
By all means drink your caffeine but please be mindful of how many cups you’re having!

It’s been a good day. A bit of socialising, work and study, a 4Km jog, a couple of delicious keto meals, ticked off all of my little goals for today... feeling pretty good, especially because I made allowance for some dark chocolate tonight once emi is asleep *high pitch squeal*
Apparently we eat tacos on Tuesdays. I’ve never really been cool enough but thought I’d join you catz tonight 😘
#transformationtuesday 📷 a year ago, just after I started my @ww.uk journey, I took part in a mini triathlon 🏊🏼♀️ 🚴🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️I found it difficult during the event but afterwards, the sense of achievement was great and I think it was this that pushed me on to become more active and eventually grow to love exercise! Now that I’ve lost two and a half stone, it’s easier to take part in these things as I have less to carry but I feel much more confident in doing so...who knew a year later I would do daily exercise and spend my Sundays going to different fitness festivals?! 💪🏼

I find my eating habits are so much more healthier when the weather is lovely. So many delicious fruits to take advantage of this time of year. 🍉🍍🍓🍑🍇🥝🍊🍒 My water intake also reflects on the weather too! 💦 I can go without it quite happily in the colder months but as soon as the warm, sunny stuff appears, I drink it by the litres without struggling 🤗
Instead of diving full force into a lifestyle change, let's start by slowly implementing these changes one at a time.
Your first change is going to be the addition of lemon water to your daily routine. Why do you ask?
Drinking lemon water first thing in the morning has many great benefits as our bodies are slightly dehydrated upon waking up and in desperate need to get rid of toxins. Lemon acts as a natural energy booster and helps to recharge dehydrated tissues and push out harmful toxins from our bodies. Other benefits:
1. It stimulates the liver to produce enzymes and release it's toxins.
2. It has powerful antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and can help the body fight upper respiratory illnesses.
3. The vitamin C in lemons improves our skin by rejuvenating our body.
4. The citric acid from the lemon meets up with enzymes throughout our system and triggers the production of gastric juice which aids in digestion.
5. The pectin fiber from the lemons help us to think we are full and suppresses our hunger.

Trainer Tip Tuesday 💩:
You bowel movement reveals a lot about your health than you may realize. Ideally you want you stool to look like 3/4. There is a balance between you fiber and fluid consumption.
If it looks like 1/2/5 you’re probably constipated. More fiber in your diet and increase water intake can help fight this.
6/7 is more diarrhea. Increase fluid consumption as this can lead to dehydration. If it continues, over the counter medications such as loperamide can help stop the loose stools. Contact your doctor if diarrhea continues as there can be many reasons for this such as infection or hyperthyroidism.

I haven’t had juice for a while and I miss it. This one was from previous time and it was with carrots, beetroot, lemon, ginger and apple. Juicing keeps my immunity strong and I love it for that extra kick that gives me throughout the day. I really do feel better in myself when I have raw veggie juice sometime in the day.

This morning I woke up at 5am to a tornado warning. This means a potential tornado is in the vicinity. After getting dressed, getting our safe space ready to run to if necessary, I glued my eyes to the radar and the news, while listening to the crazy wind and rain outside.
The storm passed, we didn’t get hit. But quite a few homes in the town where I live were damaged serenely by the storm. This was a huge wake up call to me, that if disaster struck my home, I wouldn’t have been ready.
This week I’m going to be assembling an emergency preparedness kit. Not just for me, but also for friends and family in town, to deliver if needed. In this kit I’m including
• Bath Bar
• Toothpaste sample
• Shampoo/Conditioner samples
• Deep Blue samples
• On Guard Beadlets
• Correct X
• Peace roller
• Melaleuca Roller
• Lavender Roller
• On Guard Sanitizing Spray
• Breathe Roller
Along with these, I’m adding gauze, first aid tape, ace bandages, bottled water, a flashlight, gloves, and a few other first aid necessities.
I would rather have this ready to go and never need it than not have it and find myself in a situation where I need these wellness resources.

We think we need to use fabric softeners to make our clothes smell like a “field of fresh flowers” 🌸, however many conventional fabric softeners contain toxic ingredients that may come at a serious cost to our health.⠀
According to Rebecca Sutton PhD, Senior Scientist at the Environmental Working Group: “Fabric softeners and dryer sheets coat our clothes with a subtle layer of slimy chemicals - in fact, that’s why they feel a little softer”.⠀⠀
One of the most offending chemicals in the fabric softeners are phthalates - “synthetic preservative that’s carcinogenic and linked to adverse reproductive effects (decreased sperm counts, early breast development, and birth defects) and liver and kidney damage.” (Source: University of Illinois Cancer Centre)⠀
Anne Steinmann, Ph.D., professor at the University of Melbourne & a world expert on environmental pollutants stated: “Even worse than liquid fabric softeners are dryer sheets, whose chemicals are heated & then shot into the air for you to breathe into your lungs.⠀
That ‘fresh-from-the-dryer’ smell that fabric softeners impart to your clean load of laundry? Don’t breathe it in, if you like your lungs to function. That super floral smell is masking a seriously unhealthy chemical stench.” 🤢⠀
A common reason why many of us feel like we need to use liquid softeners & dryer sheets is because the tumble dryer can make clothes stiff.⠀
What are the natural alternatives then?
🔸 Hang your clothes to dry naturally! If you associate natural drying with your towels becoming stiff and solid - that’s only due to the chemicals used for washing. If you switch to natural laundry detergent (such as the soap nuts or a gentle natural soap) then this stiffness will soon wash away.
🔸 Adding 1/2 cup of pure baking soda to the laundry will soften the water, leave your clothes smell-free & make the colours brighter.
🔸 Spray your clothes with a mix of white vinegar & your favourite essential oil (we love lavender) just after the wash & before putting it into the dryer. The vinegar smell will go away! 😊
