The @olincollege#ADE (Affordable Design and Entrepreneurship) Child Education team has been hard at work learning about teacher practices and pain points, and testing various versions of an optics learning device, the Brightbox with our teachers and their colleagues. Teachers welcome the learning opportunities afforded by both the challenge of assembly of the units and the manipulation of lenses. Many thanks to Joy Family Lodge for letting use their conference room for the #Pokuase workshop #handsonscience#producttesting#design#stemeducation#ghana#nsawam#pokuase#accra
Our unassembled packs contain materials for 10 kits (photo shows “Enzymes and Lactose Intolerance” unassembled pack). All supplies, lab materials, printed labels, and student instructions copy master. Easy to follow instructions for kit assembly. #handsonscience#justaddstudents

Today I'm starting a 5 part series on the skeletal system. I'll be sharing our favorite activities and resources from this unit. In part 1 of 5, I'll show you how we created this bone model.

This was a another great activity to show our children the complexity of our bodies. I stand in awe of our Maker's hands🤲. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14
In our “A Medical Mystery of Epidemic Proportions” kit, students perform a simulated DNA microarray test to determine how a new strain of cholera-causing bacteria evolved. #handsonscience#justaddstudents
Outdoor Learning for our Soil Erosion Experiment 🌱💦👏🏼 #takethemoutside My students had fun testing which bottle ( #1 plants and soil, #2 woodchips, rocks, & soil, and #3 just straight soil) would produce water with the least amount of soil in it. Students poured water over each bottle at the same exact spot and watched as the water drained out 💦 Clearly, bottle #1 was our winner 🌱🎉 #goplants This experiment helped students see how plants and their strong root systems work to berm up soil and slow down/prevent major erosion from occurring 💪🏼 So, we talked about how our homes have plant berms to help stop soil from eroding when we water our plants 🌼🌸🌻🌷🌱 Love hands-on activities and relating what we have learned to real life 🎉 It not only deepens student understanding, but helps students to understand the importance of what they are learning 😊 #handsonlearning#handsonscience#soil#erosion#plantsareimportant#environment#environmentalscience#scienceisfun#scienceteacher#iteachscience#optoutside#outdoorlearning Project inspired by @pinterest account lifeisagarden 🌸🌼
