Getting stronger is funner. (Autocorrect wanted me to say dinner instead of funner lol)
Majorly looking forward to seeing where I’m at a month from now. Recently I found myself kinda just going through the motions at my kettle bell workouts. I mean I was definitely working hard and pushing myself but it was almost because it became part of the routine. Lately, I’ve been tapping into this underlying fire I have for seeing what I’m capable of. Last year kettle bell strength training brought me a marathon PR of 40 or 50 minutes (9 can’t remember lol) 😭 AND got me a 1:57 half marathon. This year, I’m shooting for a BIG half marathon PR. Who else has big goals?? Goals are fun 🦄💯✨
'Mummy 你去哪里?' Looks like I cannot escape. They wanna tag along my run even though I said I jog very slowly.... 🤣 So we did a good 4km (ok, kids did more) and all were tired out as I made them double up back to find me many times along the way. Then we did a pitstop drinking vintage and munching wangwang biscuits.
Also, I was very motivated by my new Nike free shoes I got last night!😋 Super comfy and cheaper as it is an old model. Friyay is coming soon folks!
this morning was my first tempo training run and it felt solid
the lake placid half in june will be the first half i train for where my goals are deeper than the finish line
so needless to say i'm taking my training a little more seriously than i have in the past
...more seriously meaning more in tune with what my body really needs rather than what some training plan speculates in advance
way back when i was ski racing and training between 12 and 18 hours a week,
i never really accounted for what my body was saying
i tended to religiously heed the training plan
and god forbid i ever missed or didn't complete a workout...
since those days, this will be the first major event i am truly training for with an end idea in mind and i'm stoked to do it right,
to do it as best i can and follow my body's lead instead of worrying about doing everything on paper despite how i feel
it has taken many years to get here,
but essentially all it took was one step at a time,
something everyone can do

#2019goals#halfmarathonprep#Letsdothis
I had quite a morning...it’s been so cold lately and I had to get my half marathon training long run of 11 miles done this morning at the gym before work. I usually hate long runs on the treadmill, but you do what you gotta do. 🤣
After I got done and I was sitting down to change out of my running shoes and into boots, a man who looked to be in his sixties came out and asked if I had gotten a god workout in, and that he was impressed. He had been in the cardio room earlier and had since moved into the weight room. He must have noticed me on the treadmill for what seemed like ages! He made me feel so proud! Another man who was their training someone also interjected and said how impressed he was. .
I thanked them for their kind words, but I don’t know if they realized how much they made my day. I’ve been having a pretty rough week, and this is exactly what I needed this morning. (Also happy to have found a treadmill that doesn’t auto stop after 60 minutes at the gym 🙌 🤣) It may seem small, but this was a good little reminder to me to pay it forward and to be kind to people, to everyone. You have no idea what a difference it can make! 😍 🏃♀️
How do you pay it forward? What small acts of kindness have made a difference in your life recently?
