The birth of the Turmeric and Fennel Sourdough at Bisbrooke Artisans.
From the dough mix to the final loaf in reverse.
Lance is unfortunately not well, and so under his strict tutelage, I made these loaves. And what I really love about this sourdough, is the stunning yellow mustard colour. But that’s just the beginning. Bread smells sweet as it is. With turmeric and fennel the bakery is filled with the promise of sunshine and spices, happiness and holidays in warmer places.
It really is a delicious fragrant smell and toasted with butter, each bite transports me to India where turmeric is a healthy spice that keeps all kinds of colds at bay and used on the skin during ‘Haldi’ before her wedding, the bride glows not just from inner happiness but from the cleansing properties that turmeric has.
We love our black sourdough but this turmeric may well be the new black! We will bake more soon as the baker is better and get these out to you. .

Those of you who follow our personal accounts might know, we'd been away for a family wedding to Kanpur. Now weddings as we all would agree, are synonymous with fashion statements and since this was a 'family' wedding, we also didn't shy away from going a little extra at times with our accessories and make-up! In all honesty, we had the time of our lives putting together all our looks for each of the ceremonies.
Haldi calls for all things bright and yellow. My sister @mishti.and.meat chose a vibrant pure linen in mustard with silver zari, while I'm draped in a lime-hued linen moklin with hints of ghicha, both from our store.
Oxidized silver Afghans, wooden bangles and upcycled jewellery made of canvas cloth were our pick for accessories.
Since we already had a lot of haldi smeared on our faces, the make-up was kept light and simple.
Do comment below if you'd like us to share more of our looks from the wedding.😊
