DAY 7: MOVNAT SNACKS CHALLENGE ———––———––———––————––———––———
👣 How I get ready for weekly Trader Joe’s Runs
Day 7 of the #MovNatSnacksChallenge is Carrying!
Carrying is the ability to move an external object from one place to another. It’s the movement sequence that usually follows yesterday’s movement: the lift. Though it’s a movement we’ve all practiced, technique is what transforms the movement from painful and/or tense to restorative and stimulating. It also can be a great example of MovNat’s cooperative principle, where two people are actually interacting to perform a task instead of just working out next to each other

1️⃣ Reduced stress - one of the most common mental benefits of exercise is stress relief 😇
2️⃣ Improved self-confidence - nothings better than a bit of self love! ❣️

People talk about goals. These two women are goals! That’s a 25kg sandbag they’ve both picked up and are squatting with. They throw barbells above their heads like it’s nothing. And they do it all with a massive smile on their faces.
Faye and Andy you will forever be our #womancrushwednesday ❤️❤️
Here’s the thing about being a 50 something year old man. We’re old enough to have survived the ups and downs, wise enough to learn from those experiences, and young enough to enjoy the best years to come. -
By 3rd Grade I already attended 6 different schools. By 6th grade I was caring for my mother while trying to help her raise my brother. By junior high we were often without food, electricity or heat. When I was 13 I found my mother after her 1st suicide attempt. That same morning after the ambulance left to take her to the hospital a neighbor dropped my brother and I off at school. We had nowhere else to go. At 13 I understood that if I wanted to play baseball I had to figure out how to sign myself up and by 14 hitchhiking and riding my bike were my two forms of transportation.
By 19 I failed out of college and entered the military. By 23 I was working 2 jobs and living out of my car off and on. By 27 I was married and by 28 I was a father. Career success and failures followed. 2 more children came alter that followed by a long overdue divorce. I became to be a single dad to 3 young children. They made all the pain from the previous years of marriage worth it.
I buried both my parents way too soon. Thankfully any baggage with either of them was settled years earlier. I found my person, married her and and became a step father to 4 wonderful, smart and funny kids. -
All of this and so much more brought me to where I am today. Countless failures, pain, joy, and success. I’m a guy that has a ton or real life experience to fall back on, yet is smart enough to understand that I certainly don’t have all the answers. I try my best to excel in these 4 areas. Grit, Patience, humility and honesty. The more you apply these 4 qualities into your life the easier life will come to you.
At 51 this is the best time of my life. I’m learning new things everyday. I’m trying to be the best person I can. Perspective changes over time and with new experiences. Let’s just say that the big picture comes into focus and you realize that you’re not close to being done. The best IS yet to come!
