Big Bend National Park. One of the most beautiful places in the country. It’s hard to believe people are so willing to support throwing up a wall through this. The park shares 118 miles with the border of Mexico. The ecosystem here is huge, as both countries have access to the Rio Grande and the land is largely uninterrupted. Our earth is so beautiful!
Tom and I went on our first road trip together here three years ago. They are some of our favorite memories- exploring a largely austere, gorgeous landscape together when we barely knew each other. It was then that we knew we shared so many of the same passions (a 7 hour road trip across west Texas will do that to you 😂).
I pray this land gets to continue to exist in peace ❤️
Made it to Auckland! Lots of road walking, but it was a neat way to see the city. Looks like rains on the forecast today...time to break out the poncho! 💦 www.notabadplacetopee.com #teararoa#newzealand
Wednesday Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 Thursday Malaysia 🇲🇾Friday.. Australia 🇦🇺 eating fried chicken in Williams roadhouse, checking out the good views around Denmark and Walpole and based in Albany for a long weekend road tripping Western Australia. Just a few days exploring the south west corner of this very special state to whet the appetite to come back and see more!
We were Working on the camper the other night and it got dark so I decided to build a fire 🔥 to keep us warm. We had a great 👍🏽 time. Even though it was more than warm enough to camp 🏕 we ended up driving home 🏡 to sleep in a proper bed 🛌...
I've missed you Australia. It's good to be home ❤ #greathikes

Day 1 North Island Roadie: Mt Taranaki - 11 hours of muttering ' what the F' both silently and out loud 😂
Wont be doing that again anytime soon 😅
For those of you who know how shit my balance is, overcoming my fears of climbing up scree and rocks for hours was next level. A wee bit proud of achieving this beast but mainly just traumatised 😂 Couldn't have done it without this guy @zweibruckchad
So far so good on the Te Araroa! Spent New Years camped out on the 90 Mile Beach. After three days of walking along the ocean I’m glad for a change in scenery as I head inland 😜 www.notabadplacetopee.com #teararoa#newzealand
Impromptu trip down to Torres del Paine led to an incredible 3 day Christmas adventure on the O Circuit. The glaciers, forests, mountains, rivers and lakes within this nation park made for some world class hiking. Today is my 1 year Health-iversary! Exactly one year ago, I had a health injury event and needed the help of some very close and amazingly intelligent super doctors to assist me. This might come as news to most people, as besides my family and a handful of close friends, I told absolutely no one of my surgery. My surgery was a success but the feeling of elation quickly faded as I realized what a daunting task I had to accomplish on the road to recovery.
You see what medical or graduate school did not prepare me for was the complete feeling of vulnerability I felt afterwards. Things that were previously easy such as running or even hiking were impossible. I felt I was out of place in a body that was no longer my own. For as long as I can remember I spent years training as an athlete and this was taken away from me in an instant. There were days I went to school in pain, nights I cried because I couldn’t care for my fur kids and moments in which I felt I might never climb another mountain again. I relied on my family for everything because most basic tasks exhausted me completely.
But as I write this today, one year later, I am so proud of myself and far I have come! I can run, hike, climb and adventure once more! I feel incredibly strong and know I am quite blessed. I am thankful to those who stood by me during my recovery and provided lots of encouragement. Looking forward to making new memories on new adventures!
