Author: Alexandra Silva
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: January 31st
About Someone Like You:
Dorian Anson is my friend. She's the only person who's ever questioned my smiles. My jokes. The one liners that have our friends shaking their heads at me.
I've lived my life on those smiles. They never failed me, until her.
I wasn't counting on her when I designed my front. I never imagined the possibility of someone like her coming into my life.
The wild hair, the kind smile and those eyes that see everything.
She was the girl with the beautiful soul, pretty face and whole heart. But hearts aren't made to stay whole.
I watched hers break. I watched her tears fall. I watched as her world tilted on its axis and shattered at her feet.
She sees me, all parts of me—the truths I try to hide, the secrets I bury. What's mine and what's not.
She sees it all, and I can only hope the truth isn't too much. That she won't walk away.
That she won't leave me...alone.
We both have a past. We have ghosts. We have fears.
I'm hoping that somehow in the end, we'll have each other too.
I've never needed anyone before her, and I know I'll never want anyone else after her.
There is no one like her.
My pretty girl.

I’m a big fan of @marianallanosldc 📚❤️ She taught a class for @yukonwriterssociety on diversity in writing, and it was one of my favorites of the year. This is her latest children’s book, which is in English and Spanish! How cool is that? So excited to read this one. 😍

"Ty fruktan för en fara är tusen gånger mera förskräcklig än faran själv, när man har den för ögonen." #RobinsonCrusoe#DanielDefoe .
Believe it or not but this was the first time I read this story, and I read it as a buddyread with @artfulreader .
I found this book to be very bland in the beginning as he was just counting his days and trying to tinker with things, however it was very interesting reading about how he came to terms with his stranded life and to follow his reasoning and thought process. A lot more stuff happend towards the end, and even though that part was my favourite, I found it a bit unbelievable that all that stuff that happend there, went unnoticed for aproximately 20years or so that he was on the island walking around freely?? Not my fave read, it didnt blow my mind nor keep me particularly interested, but it was an interesting story. A factor that maybe subconciously influenced me to dislike the book could have been that I've been reading an old swedish translation, which I dont like at all. A minus was Robinson himself, I didnt like him as a person at all. I found him to be very annoying and racist with a supperiority complex.
About the quote I picked out, the fear of something being worse than the thing you're fearing. This is a hella old book which people read during a very different times whose people and society looked very different from me and my surroundings. Still this fear is one thing that transcends time and place. We can see it clearly now as we have seen it through history, how people get rallied up by the fear OF the "other" and fear FOR the "self". Fear of a potential danger and literally take innocent peoples lives, and destroy peoples homes and countries, creating a self fulfilling prophecy. Creating a danger thats worse and very real, because no matter how horrifying and dangerous they imagined things could become, they are still just a fantasy. The danger manifests when they act on their fears rather than rationality. .

Big facepalm moment!
We started our debt free journey in October 18, and I feel like my eyes were opened. It was nothing I didn’t know already, but I wasn’t conscious enough of the value of our money and what we have done with it. This year we became citizens and I got a promotion at work and we still didn’t have enough leftover money after every Paycheck and no savings.
I wanted to spend Christmas with my family in Colombia but didn’t have a cent saved to do that. I was in the mindset of paying off credit card to use it again for the trip 🤦♀️ We could’ve done that and be back to square one, but now that we have discovered the pleasure of paying in cash and not worry about debt, there is no coming back.
What was I thinking about Christmas? How was I supposed to pay for presents? This year has been less stressful because at least I have a budget, and started a sinking fund for Christmas 19!
Good evening friends, so if you've been following for a long time you probably know that I love planning, and I tried a lot of ways and methods this year so I wanted to share them with you
The Wall calendar : an amazing way for daily planning
The Planner / agenda : so good for your business and job
To do lists : they're helpful if you take them with you in your bag / pocket
The Bullet journal : great for everything actually , for daily planning, business, content creation ... These are the common methods of planning, each one of them has positive and negative sides , but I thought I would share with you How & when to use them so you can choose what works the best for you .

Am I missing your favorite?
Have you read ?
‘Catch-22’ is a revolutionary book by Joseph Heller which was first published in 1961. This book is a one of its kind. Heller uses a non-chronological third person omniscient narration to bind the threads together. Ideas flow into each other through random connections within the story. Events have been repeated through different point of views. The story is situated in the time of World War 2. This story is about the life of Captain John Yossarian, a U.S. Army Air Forces bombardier in 256th squadron who has been assigned to bomb enemy posts at eastern France and Italy.
The phrase ‘Catch-22’ was later added in English language referring to a type of impossible logic puzzle sometimes called a double bind. According to this story unstable men do not have to fly aircrafts, but the fact that they can rationally decide for themselves and ask for waiver, proves that they are stable enough. Yossarian is the lead character of this story. A man who is afraid of his own commanding officers because he thinks that they want to kill him, by making him work more while all he wants is to escape from the situation. He has seen his friends dying and a lot more destruction. He wants to quit, but he can't. The story is quite unique in its narration. Many times in this story, jokes are completed through different point of view. This is a satirical novel. If you are looking for a piece of writing that is complex and humorous, pick this one.

Who loves modern poetry? 🙋🏼
If you like me adore emotional poems that will wreck your heart and steal your breath, you should definitely check out this amazing poet, Olivia Gatwood. Her words are powerful and heartbreakingly beautiful at the same time. Look up her videos on You Tube and be amazed, it will be worth your while.
"...The convenient thing about being a magical woman is that I can be gone as quickly as I came.
And when you are a whole person for the first time, the movie is over.
Manic pixie dream girl doesn’t go on; there’s no need for her anymore.
Manic pixie dream girl is too dream girl, and you just woke up.
Once, I told you I was afraid of my father, and for a moment,
I looked so human, the audience lost interest.
You saw the crow’s feet at the sides of my eyes and a small chip on my front tooth.
I looked just like everyone else."

I won another Goodreads giveaway! I'm excited to crack this book open in the new year. It was originally published in France in 2016, but will be making its USA debut in January. Thanks to St. Martin for this Advance Readers' Copy and to Goodreads for making it possible!
Sidney Sheldon's mystery 'The Silent Widow' by Tilly Bagshawe is indeed a gripping story.
When you start reading the initial chapters (and the prologue) you start imagining the gruesome things that are happening to the characters...
This story revolves around a psychiatrist Nicki Roberts (whose husband died in a car accident) and her patients and acquaintances.
One of her patients got murdered brutally and then one more tragic murder happens (trying not to reveal the story)
Two cops, Goodman and Johnson the investigation officers of the LAPD have different theories about the murders, Johnson is against Nicki because she is the common link between the victims and she has some actual reasons to kill them which makes her the prime suspect... And according to Goodman Nicki is the main target of the killer.
Well, there are many characters in the story and everyone is related to each other, if you're really into thriller just grab it and find out who's behind all this... A real page turner it is.

What's a book you don't love even though a lot of people do?
Happy Saturday, friends! The dinner last night went great and we had some guests stay overnight so I've been busy with them all morning. I also set up and had my hubby take the WRONG photo for #decemberbookishgirls but there's no turning back now. Hahaha! So it's a #redandwhite instead of #redandgreen stack but I tried. Anyway. I'm hoping to build a booktree (or a bookbox tree?) this afternoon, wrap presents, and just generally get my life together! We'll see what happens. Clearly, my brain is on 'off' today. I might sit and read.
Speaking of... I read The Reader by Traci Chee and I found it dull and confusing, which makes me so sad because I've been looking forward to reading it for a few years! Has this ever happened to you?

🎄Only 9 days until Christmas...which means I’m enjoying my Christmas decorations while I can. 🎄
While I am excited about Christmas, I’m also very excited that this is the will be my last week of work until after the New Year! I cannot wait for Christmas break. I would love to say that I’m going to have a ton of time to read but since we are going home for Christmas, I’ll be spending most of my time with family. I’m still planning on squeezing in some reading time though! What’s your current TBR look like?
