When you spend a few hours with the local news (John & Walt) from @wpri12, share your story in depth & them knowing how determined I am to get through this, & hopefully helping others along the way, they put together an amazing 2min broadcast and an awesome write up, putting about 3+ hours of heart to heart conversation into something so powerful and to the point. Thank you WPRI for reaching out and sitting down with me.. thank you to my neighbor for being so supportive & just friggen awesome & to my sister, family and a few special friends for all the support and help. My journey has just begun & I thank every single one of you here on social media for following, sharing and most importantly supporting me every step I take. I’ve have gained so many incredible friendships through this platform, some I have had the honor to meet in person and others who although I have yet to meet them, they have shown support in so many ways. Together we WILL make a difference!
The link to the write up is in my bio above & pinned to my IGTV

Adventure is one of my favorite words. It means something different to everyone and my definition changes effortlessly season to season and day to day. And the best part is, every definition of adventure is incredible and special. There is seriously no wrong definition of what it means to adventure.
My current adventure is navigating a classroom and teaching kids that every day is pretty freaking awesome and they are capable of just about anything. Hopefully some other types of adventuring gets weaved in there too (I miss the mountains already)
What’s you’re definition of adventure??
@nasonjelson is Heading up Long’s Peak tomorrow and has hijacked our Instagram feed. Let’s talk gear: @ultimatedirectionusa Mountain Vest 4.0 is amazing. Can hold two bottles up front, hydration in the back, can strap running poles to the front, carry food for days. What can it not hold? Haven’t discovered it yet. @sundayafternoons_hats are the best shade for a long hike like this. Will be layering with @prana.@nuunhydration is in my water bottles. @ultimatedirectionusa hydrolight pants (coming soon). @lekiusa Micro Trail Vario poles to help on the steep parts. Are amazing because they are light, snap together fast, and can attached to my pack easily. @tifosioptics sweet shades. Shoes are @xeroshoes terraflex. Amazing trail shoes that are minimalist. Gives you grip and ground feel at the same time. Let’s talk food: @eatbobos@clifbar shot blocks. @theprobar bolts. @gomacro bars. @epicbar for quick protein. Plus an almond butter sandwich that isn’t made yet. What to learn more? Holler with questions.

Finally seeing that kona beauty...
For the last week the vog has stayed away which means the sun can finally shine thru. We have had such pretty sunsets and the water clarity has been ridiculous.
Definitely have been enjoying my last few weeks here

Nothing but smiles on this Friday! ☺️ a patient once answered my “how’s your day going?“ with “I woke up this morning, which means I’m alive and it’s another day I get to enjoy” (very ill patient, with an incredibly positive attitude) 💛 Remember to always be kind to those around you.

#SamOetikerFFA | This is undoubtedly my favorite @samoetiker shot that I’ve edited for his ongoing giveaway.
This a class drone capture, encompassing widespread landscape as far as the eye can know. The location is Lake Eibsee all the way over in Bayern, Germany. Simply breathtaking!

Long exposure night skies captured you photographer @treywlker with the #SonyAlpha a7R III 💫
"This photo wasn’t an easy one to shoot! With the passing of a car every few minutes, you’d pick up the light leak of the headlights and had to equate for that in the exposure. Just had to nail in the correct exposure and I was good to go. It’s all about patience with these type of shots!" | a7R III | 35mm f1.4 | Sky: f2.8, ISO 1250, 20 sec | Foreground: f2.2, ISO 100 |

Two years ago, I decided to go back to school for my Ph.D. Five more years of school – sounds fun, right?! I spent months perfecting personal statements and entrance exam scores and even longer worrying I wouldn’t get in anywhere. Well, it’s now 2018 and I’m about to start my second year here at Brown University.
This past year has been a whirlwind of exams, studying, exams, freaking out about prelims, then rinsing and repeating all over again the next day. Half the time my brain feels rusty and slow compared to everyone else in my cohort. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a 25 (out of 100!) on an exam before this year. I’ve spent a considerable amount of time wondering what the hell I had gotten myself into.
But in spite of all this, I can truthfully say that this past year has been absolutely wonderful. From wonderful, supportive new friends in the math world to wonderful outdoor friends — old and new — it’s been one hell of a ride. My career feels like it’s definitely headed in the right direction, too. .
The summers are unfortunately shorter for me now, but I was able to do a trip down in the Sierra then a half dozen trips in Washington, so I’m counting that as a win. I feel rejuvenated and so ready for what this next year has in store for me 🙏🏼

@frozenblizzard Exuma, The Bahamas. "Do. Not. Move." 🙈
These are actually harmless nurse sharks. You can swim with them in the Bahamas. Would you do it?
