#bigandboss was a random hashtag I used when I posted a rant about myself and my anxieties a week or so ago.
Since then I have had SO MANY conversations about how many amazing #plussize women both in business and in their careers are holding back from being visible because of their body confidence.
It's a conversation I want to continue.
Tonight (like 10 minutes ago) I started a facebook group so we can get together and share our stories. One thing my trainer noticed about me when he started training me, was a huge lack of shoulder strength. So, I’ve been working on my shoulders with lots of exercises that buuuurn. Here are some variations on standard lateral raises that I’ve been using - it’s good to mix things up here and there to make sure any strength built is functional and transferrable, not just specific to one exercise.
1. Lateral raises done at 1&1/4 reps. This is a standard lateral raise, except you pulse at the top of the motion going just a quarter of the way down, back to the top, then all the way back down for each rep. This increases the time under tension and therefore the efficiency of this exercise!
2. Poliquin lateral raise; first do a half bicep curl so your elbows are at right angles, then raise your arms from your shoulders until they are horizontal, then extend your arms out to straight before returning to the starting position. This just hits the shoulders in a slightly different way and if you’re not used to it, you’ll definitely feel it!

I’ve had my fair share of vegan burgers but this has to be the best I’ve had yet! I got the BBC with a side of chicken drumsticks 🍗 (out of this world delicious 🌎) and @jason.pizzino got a ABC but swapped the chicken pattie for “beef” w/ a side of 🍟

SINGLE ARM OVERHEAD SQUAT 😱
I used only an 8kg kettlebell for this... let’s just say it was very humbling 😂
This movement challenges thoracic and ankle mobility, shoulder and hip stability and core strength 🔥🔥🔥
It’s a great accessory exercise to challenge your single arm stability before moving to Olympic lifts.
It requires you to stay upright in a squat position while controlling the weight over your centre of gravity - a major test for improving my weaknesses specifically!
I really struggled with this... you can tell because my body wants to come straight out of that squat position immediately (my left hip is a quite unstable). My next challenge is to hold at the bottom for 3 seconds, 5 seconds then eventually 10 seconds! By doing this I’ll be able to improve my strength and stability in the catch position of a snatch!
