Now THAT’S a wildflower. While you can find lovely delicate little wildflowers in the Rockies, this vibrant beauty, the Western Wood Lily, is found in the foothills.
Unfortunately, due to its long stems and shapely colourful flowers, the wood lily often finds its way into a vase by captivated travelers. This usually prevents the wood lily from emerging the following year. As photographers, we have the advantage of taking hundreds of photos so we can enjoy them all year and the following year as well.
You can search for these and other fabulous Alberta flowers if you attend the CCC2019 Conference in Calgary in July and add the Glenbow Ranch Evening Walk or the two or three day Banff field trips to your itinerary.
Go to www.ccc2019.ca for more info.
These are the great grand kids and grand daughter of the Cockbaines. The Cockbaine’s were one of the first families to homestead the lands that would become Glenbow Ranch. They came all the way from Wales to see where their ancestors lived. How cool is that? #glenbowranch#canadianhistory#albertahistory
“O hushed October morning mild, Thy leaves have ripened to the fall; To-morrow’s wind , if it be wild, Should waste them all.
The crows above the forest call; To-morrow they may form and go.” #robertfrost gets me every time!
