“You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.”
↟↟↟I would be lying if I said meditation didn't change my life. It honestly saved it. I've been practicing meditation for almost two years now, and trust me, it hasn't been an easy road!
When I talk to most people about meditation, I often hear "my mind doesn't work that way," "I can't get myself to think about nothing," and the best one "it's impossible."
Hate to break it to you guys (jk actually stoked to break it to you guys) but meditation is ABSOLUTELY POSSIBLE, and for ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE.
It's a fact. Your brain is not special. It is just as capable of slowing down as any modern mystic or saint is capable of going out and partying should they choose to do so...
Check out “Why Meditate?” on my blog for my favorite guided meditations and how meditation changed my life *link in bio* #wildbynature#365daysofREAL

What they don’t tell you is that the road to living your very BEST life isn’t all puppies & ice cream & #goodvibesonly. I did try to take that route though - to only focus on the positive, visualize & manifest the things you want, smile and act the way you want to feel... etc, etc.
All of the sweet things and confetti are part of the journey, of course. They are amazing & make life worth living. But that’s just it - they are PART. Life is a breathing dichotomy. The sweet is mixed in with the big & daunting dark things that you’ve been shoving down for years while you were pretending you were a magical unicorn/mermaid/whatever your flavor is.
There are monster-under-the-bed things you have to face on the road to joy. They stand tall and ominous.. maybe wearing a disguise or hiding from view every now and then, only to pop back up and hop on your shoulders for a piggy back ride when you least expect it - usually during the most inopportune of times.
They perform at a subconscious level - they inform your habits without your conscious knowledge. Leave you scratching your head as to why you can’t finally leave that job or stop dating the same kind of guy over and over.
Acknowledging your wounds is not for the faint of the heart. It’s really fucking hard. It means that you’re not going to have the best day ever every day. It means that sometimes you are going to fall to your knees in tears & the only one who can save you is you.
Turning to face your darkness head on takes bravery & strength & bad-assery. It means choosing to walk through the fire to upgrade your life from surface-level mediocrity to the incredibly infinite possibilities available to you here & now. Awakening to your truest purpose.
Rumi says, “The wound is the place where the light enters you.” In choosing to do the work & let the light in, the wounds can turn to beautiful battle scars. They fade over time and every now and then when you look down and see one, you are reminded that you are a magically rad warrior and you are so capable.
A lesson I’m working to embody: Don’t ignore the dark. It allows you to truly see the light in its full brilliance.
My first copy of Wild by @cherylstrayed I carried with me to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and the next week to the top of a mountain in Glacier National Park.
It’s all about the journey.
Where have you taken your favorite books?
Every once in a while, the cold is so worth it. The way the mist rose off of Lake McDonald and this little inlet on that frigid morning was magic. Also can we just admire the color of the water and Madison’s super ripped arm for a sec?
If you’re getting married in some beautiful, wild, secluded spot, please take me with you.

Our expedition leader (Melissa) took us on a glacier walk on the Perito Moreno Glacier today. Very different from the glaciers in the Antarctica as this is very active and melting, moving and calving constantly. Much deeper blue and bigger than any we’d seen. It is 5 kilometres wide and feeds into two separate lakes. Beau then got a snap of his pet stuffed giraffe, Giraffael, sitting on the ice. 😂 We finished off with a whisky on ice.... cut from the glacier of course. #argentina#glaciernationalpark #$ixtyb!tch #whathappensnext
Day 4 began with the most stunning early morning drive through Montana. The drive to the east entrance to Glacier National Park was so stunning I realized I didn’t even stop taking it in to take pictures 🤷🏼♀️. The road connecting Glacier was closed due to snow and ice so our visit was one sided this time but overwhelmingly amazing nonetheless. That evening we crossed into Canada and ended a long day with a perfect first taste of poutine ! Everything just kept getting more beautiful. Up next....Banff 😍 🇨🇦❤️ #lovetravels#roadtrip#montana#glaciernationalpark
For some reason we had this lake all to ourselves, Medicine Grizzly Lake. Behind me was a cirque with at least 3 waterfalls but wanted to share a different perspective looking back towards where the trail comes in at the foot of the lake.
Exploring this earth has always been a passion of mine. Nature gives me a feeling like no other, and I long for that same feeling every single day. I truly find myself through adventures, my photography, and traveling... I cannot wait to see what my future holds. Hopefully it consists of many more adventures and new places to visit••• Unfortunately, we are destroying this planet... this is our only HOME, we must take care of it!! I cannot stress this enough! With all due respect, care for something greater other than yourself. Carpooling, eating less meat, turning off the faucet/lights when it’s not being used, picking up your trash, and many more actions can make a HUGE difference. Give back to the environment, as it gives us literal LIFE! Keep this earth green and blue! Protect the planet and it’s beautiful creatures. You’re a real one if you made it this far #happyearthday#everydayisearthday#ourhome#savetheplanet

the best waterfalls are the ones that can't fit within the frame
90km away from any civilization and surrounded by glaciers. I am not sure if I have ever been to any other place that is as diverse, raw and stunningly beautiful as the wild north of #BritishColumbia in #Canada 🇨🇦 What about you?
