These are the positively charged polar amino acids that I posted a day or two ago. Notice that the side chains on these amino acids have increasing pKas. ( That’s the negative log of the acid dissociation constant, which tells you how likely a compound is to give up a proton. The lower the pKa, the more likely to give up the proton.)
I’m finding it fairly difficult to decide how exactly to calculate the net charge on an ampholytic compound at a specific pH. In theory it’s very simple. But the book does a terrible job of explaining the how-to. I think it was only written for the genius population, and unfortunately I do not qualify.
So if anyone has any good explanations on this terribly simple calculation that absolutely evades me, please share.
Hey y'all! I wrote a little ditty on how to convert your redux code to modularized ducks! 👾👩🏼💻
Which yes, I'll admit, may sound like a bunch of nerdy-mumbo-jumbo, but I worked really hard on it && would LOVE for you to give it a read and let me know what you think! 😘

A lot of history in these walls...
What an honour to speak aboard the USS Hornet last night to servicemen and women, members of the space industry and the next generation of space explorers.
As we look to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing, it was great to pay respect to not just the men, but the WOMEN who made Apollo possible. To date no woman has walked on the Moon, but the first to do so, is among us today. So it was my utter pleasure to share the stage with such an incredible group of pioneering space women, including NASA Astronaut Yvonne Cagle, who got to take Katherine Johnson (of Hidden Figures fame), to the Oscars.
Representation matters in space, because if we want to achieve the goal of being a Multi-Planetary species we need to represent everybody on Earth.
The STEM world is big and sometimes overwhelming so finding where you fit into it may be difficult. But have no fear! A lot of people are going through the same process you are. Check out my blog post to see some tips to making your decision a little easier and a lot less scary.
Students interested in the Physics SAT Subject test need only know the material at the level of a basic textbook, such as Giancoli. The most important thing is that your course covers the entire spectrum of material, as the depth of the material is not extensive . Order up any used copy for $5 - the basics have not changed in decades. We have several blogs on how to prep for this test and what background you will need; see link in bio and go to the “blogs” section of our website.
Have an awesome day you guys!
EXCITING NEW TAKEOVER ALERT!!🚨 by @the_engineeress
Lindsey is a materials engineer who works on electronic materials mainly for device applications (like the stuff inside your phone and computer) She synthesises these new or novel materials using a really finely controlled deposition process in a vacuum. By depositing atoms one at a time she is able to really finely control properties. STAY TUNED!✨
We throw out about 6 tonnes of textiles (mostly clothes) every ten minutes in numerous developed countries. That's really hurting our Earth. Next time you need something new, how about trying a local second-hand store or asking your friends or extended family if you can do a swap of items? You could even invite everyone over for dinner and see if you can swap clothes and toys!
I think these FIGS scrubs gave me super powers. Day started off a bit rough, but I have been able to turn it around and take it by the horns💪🏾.
It’s so easy to focus on having a bad day.
I physically had to tell myself “Michelle if you keep thinking you’re having a bad day, it’s only gonna get worse.” Your mind 🧠has control over your day. Despite how much is going wrong don’t focus on that. Focus on the blessings✨ you have and focus on making the rest of the day good. Focus on the rest of the week being good and focus on the rest of your life being good. Being negative only makes the journey even more difficult. So let’s stop that. 🙅🏾♀️You’re up, you’re breathing, you’re able. Remember that! Send a thank you to the man above and keep moving🙏🏾!
Praying that the rest of your day and week are fantastic! Let’s keep grinding! ❤️

[day 23/100] #100DaysOfCode: this windows update is taking forever and a day, so here’s my check in while I wait ⏰
First week of a new semester and of being back at work. I woke up at 5am, completed day 6 of Dedicate with @adriennelouise, made it to my first 8:30am shift of the year and then had class at 2pm. All while feeling so much gratitude for getting to mold habits that support my soul and my goals so strongly 🌿 The future is bright, and we’re building it one small positive thought and one small positive action at a time ✨
I hope you all had a wonderful Monday 🚀
Today was my first day seeing patients at the Pediatric Clinic! 🦖🧸🎀 I loved it!
This time of the year is really busy for pediatrics due to cold/flu season, so I saw a high volume of sweet little ones ranging from newborns to teenagers.
I have to make a big decision pretty soon on what specialty I want to go into, so I’m excited to gain more experience in peds! Not only because I love kids and it’ll be really fun, but also because I think after this I’ll know which specialty to choose.
