Kiddos create the most delicious masterpieces, this exploratory crochet free form scarf is sweet like sherbet 🍭 #getsmART
So when I was younger I went to college and bombed out in a semester. Since then I went active duty, got injured and got out. Last year I applied to Texas state and got denied for my previous gpa being a 2.49 when I needed a 2.5. I spent a year straight at a local community college working my ass off, and in a year I raised by gpa to 3.58, got into Texas state, and as a month ago started their electrical engineering program. Things happen when you work your ass off, and I’m super proud because of it. #thespuddyhollyexperience#spuddyhollyinspace#getsmart#getbig#workhard#winbig

#HappyDeathDay to Don Adams!
(April 13, 1923 Manhattan, NYC, NY - September 25, 2005 Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Beverly Grove, CA)
Donald James Yarmy, comedian, actor, & director, famous for playing Maxwell Smart, Secret Agent 86 on the Mel Brooks & Buck Henry-created TV show Get Smart (NBC, 1965-1970) & for giving voice to Inspector Gadget (1983-1985) passed away on this date of lymphoma. CTP COMMITTEE 2018-19
Welcome to the new Coolum Theatre Players’ Committee.
Following the recent AGM, the new team (pictured) includes: Fiona Bastion, Mallory Young, Jenny Gilcrist, Greg McMahon and Julie Delmore.
Mallory Young has taken over the presidential reins from David Coleman.
Here’s a little more info about our new president: “Never work with children or animals!
I think I took this advice as a challenge as I have not only worked as an educator within the Drama field, but also as a Veterinary nurse. The logical progression? Becoming the president of The Coolum Theatre Players!
When I have trod the boards, I have been a temptress, an unimpressed matriarch and a despondent witch. I have also stumbled into many roles within the theatre family including Lighting design for Rock Eisteddfod (Miles, 2001), Stage manager for ‘Rapunzel’ (Margaret River), lighting for ‘Beauty and the Beast’ (CTP), and Sound for both ‘Spamalot’ and ‘The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas’ (CTP). Yes, you will see me generally skulking around backstage and maybe even on stage. I now look forward to a larger role as President of The Coolum Theatre Players!” #coolumtheatreplayers#coolumtheatre#getsmart#communitytheatre#acting#directing#agm#committee
Video 1: Beltless 3 reps 315 #
Video 2: Beltless pause rep 365 + normal single
Video 3: 405 # Beltful single
Video 4: 385 # Beltful single
Video 5: 385 # Beltless single
Tonight's training was weird. Stomach felt off but not terrible. Figured it would normalize as I warmed up. .💪
All beltless reps tonight felt fantastic. .💪
WITH a belt, though, I just felt awful. Stomach made bracing very uncomfortable and I've gained too much weight as well so my belt is too tight.
385 # without a belt (beltless PR I'm pretty sure) felt incredibly easy, but with a belt 5 minutes earlier it felt like death.
So I set a smart decision PR and called it there instead of forcing myself through it like I normally would.
Very happy with how the beltless reps felt. Even though the workout went poorly I'd say the strength I had without a belt on is a very good sign.
Let’s break some myths about cryotherapy & ice during rehabilitation on #mythmonday ❄️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀•Ice is only effective for the first 24-48hours post injury
☑️ Cryotherapy, in addition to its physical properties is a great analgesic, and pain management tool that can be used 72 hours post acute injury (Starkey, 2014). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •Ice can remove swelling ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ☑️ Cryotherapy is useful for immediate care, muscle spindle recovery & to prolong more swelling from occuring. Which is why, applying Ice can be beneficial early in the rehabilitation phase. However, it does not physically remove the swelling that has already occurred. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ •Ice should not be applied more than 10-15 minutes. ☑️ Research shows adequate time for cryotherapy is 20 min, as long as 30 minutes for skeletal musculature depending on the area. More precisely reducing body temperature to 14.4 degrees C for analgesic effects; 2.2 degrees C for intrascapular inflammation, reducing secondary hypoxic injury (edema, chronic inflammation, cellular waste, etc) (Hubbard & Denegar, 2004) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •Ice massage should not be used for contusions. ⠀⠀ ☑️ With accurate pressure, and thermal effects we can avoid myositis ossification; Ice massage is most effective in muscle spasms, trigger points and contusions (Starkey, 2014). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ •
Parent post time!
My MOPS meeting today was all about this technology generation and how hard it is to unplug! Who is guilty of the technology babysitter and allowing countless hours on games and screens??? 🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️ ME!! Right here...totally guilty! I’m going to have the 9 year old do brain training tasks during the week to earn weekend screen time with trade option for a fun activity! Electronics during the week have become a NO GO because school work tends to slide that way...now we embark on this new adventure and hopefully the tweenager takes the news gracefully!
A financial lecture for post-doctoral students... not bad for a business turning 3.😉 #bmoreinvested
