“A Quick Check”
This past week I had the opportunity to learn how to do Adult CPR (it’s been at least 25 years since I got certified last, and some of the methods have changed). Mercy Health offered the Run Toledo Ambassadors an opportunity I couldn’t pass up! This small class atmosphere allowed us to coach one, do one, and see one led by Mr. Burt Rogers. You might have seen him at the finish line of many of @runtoledo events, where he helps with medical needs—not always of runners, sometimes spectators need the med team too.
I feel confident I can now evaluate a “what if” list of breaths and pulse, to carry out the best care we can provide as civilians until the proper medical 🏥 team could arrive.
My smiles are a result making the first steps as real as possible, I named my table dummy “Tim.” Tim, Tim, are you alright?? When they asked if that was my husband’s name, I laughed and said no. I had actually thought of an old Cabbage Patch doll from my husband’s childhood that he named Timmy. We all had a good laugh as we tried to get back on track.
Mr. Burt Rogers called me “419” and had the best time answering all our questions which fell out of the scope of this certification. Very thankful for his time and the Run Toledo family. We continue to make our race experiences better and safer! We’ve got you Northwest Ohio!!
