So I’m kind of going through a fragrance thing right now and might be posting more smell-related things. I’ll keep mixing it up!
This is MAC Velvet Teddy from the @maccosmetics ShadeScents collection that apparently exists. They have a few fragrances that are based on some of their most popular lipstick shades, and they’re actually pretty well received. I picked this one up because 1) I love the Velvet Teddy lipstick and 2) I’ve heard that it’s a really smoky, gourmand smell and is a near identical dupe for Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. I’ve never smelled TV, but it seems up my alley so I went ahead and blind bought this. I am not disappointed. It starts off like a very dark, woody vanilla, and settles into a kind of smoky, tobacco-sweetness. There’s a bit of honey in there, but it’s not overly sweet. It gives me a dark, masculine, mysterious fantasy for sure. I probably wouldn’t wear this to work because its a bit heavy, but definitely a good nighttime fragrance.
It retails for $57 USD, but is easily found reliably on the grey market (reddit, eBay, fragrancenet). Given the price point and relatively low demand, I don’t think it’s likely that people are out there circulating fakes!
“Perfume is like music that you wear.” This quote by Mathilde Thomas really resonates with me. As a creator of both music and perfume, I see, possibly more than most, the connection between perfume and music.
All creative endeavors have a common thread. The creator takes elements that exist and makes something new with them. In perfume, it’s aromatic compounds like essential oils, absolutes, botanical essences, and aroma molecules in a base of oil or alcohol.
In music, it’s melodic passages and chord progressions, rendered through a medium of either voices or instruments.
It’s the same process in any creative endeavor, only the medium is different.
I hope that our perfumes are like music to you. I hope we can have the opportunity to sing for you through scent.
Let’s have a conversation. If you’d like, share in the comments your creative passion. Do you paint? Sculpt? Write music? Stories? Graphic design? Create perfumes? Craft? Let us know. How do you see it as similar to other creative arts?
Shave of the day-“Sharp Dressed Man” by @stirlingsoap. Inspired by Creed’s GIT. This is a really nice inspired scent that captures the essence of GIT. The aftershave leaves you feeling crisp, and fresh. As always, used my trusty @wetshavingproducts “El Grande” razor.
SOTD is one of the three Tom Ford leather fragrances featured in my top 20 leather fragrances video today, Ombré Leather. This one ended up really close to the top spot and it really does smell like 💰 both my guest and I really do love this one and it’s a perfect scent to wear today on a cool Saturday. Any fans of Ombré Leather? How about the two other Tom Ford’s featured in this photo? What’s your SOTD? #tomford#tomfordfragrances#ombreleather#tuscanleather#fuckingfabulous

Today myself and @smurfygurly visited the Guerlain Paris Vendome boutique. The array of bottles at the store entrance is stunning! Claire bought herself Le Plus Beau Jour De Ma Vie in a personalised pink bottle with a “Smurfy” engraving!!The staff were very knowledgable and warm and friendly. I enjoyed sampling all the great scents and have resolved to add Mouchoir de Monsieur and Eau de Guerlain to my collection very soon. What is your favourite Guerlain fragrance?
