Hi buddies. I went into #dka (diabetic ketoacidosis) yesterday and it was skuuury 🥺🤢🤮For those who don’t know, I am a #type1diabetic And most of the time I pretend I’m not. But I am not pretending anymore! I have certain needs that demand my attention. Yesterday, calling 911, getting admitted into the ICU and staying in the hospital overnight was craycray. But constant #heart monitoring, now that’s what I’m talkkmmmbaout.
Anyway IM DOING JUST FINE!! I was put on some drips and given lots of insulin to bring my sugars back down!

Please “bug” me about my diabetes. Though it is not my entire identity and I pride myself as non-diabetic passing, it is a very special part of my physical self that does need a different kind of attention and extra care. Not to be ignored! (This is the moral of my experience!!) So please, bug me about my blood sugar, ask me how much insulin I need, I would love the special attention 😇

Assalaamualakum guys! Hope you're all doing well. I just want to spend a few moments concentrating on failure and low moments we all face in our lives. Every person on this earth will have highs and lows. We all also fail and succeed. That's okay. That IS life. You cannot succeed at everything. And you also can't be the 'best version' (all though I appreciate you all in every aspect of yourselves!) of yourself 24/7. That's okay. On social media people only upload there good moments and many bloggers whether that be beauty or lifestyle spend hours shooting and making things look good to upload for us, the audience in order to have a pretty feed to attract more attention and to fit into the aesthetic. We've all come across really pretty feeds. But people don't know what goes on behind. Don't be fooled. Don't spend your time tying to making your social media life pretty rather spend time making you yourself a better person mentally and physically. Social Media should be a small time pass, that's all. It's crazy because my average time was 1 hour and a half a day! For the past weeks it's been 1 minute. And Allahamdulilah I see social media having no positive affect on me besides interaction with all the lovely sisters! In'shah'allah I will continue to do so but also try to spend less time on it scrolling miles and miles. Maybe you guys should give it a try, pretty health > pretty feeds ❤️ On a side note: this beautiful piece is just 😍. Also remember in the Quran Allah swt has given us a duty to look after ourselves and our well being, so please do so 🖤
Oh how I wish this was not true for some but it is the reality of many. My prayer for you today is that you would value your health and not look at it as an expense but as an investment into your future and your family’s future. Pay now or pay later but you will pay. Festejos, despedidas, encuentros con gente querida y tanto más.
En medio de todo eso, pude escaparme un rato del mundo y me mimé.
Me di tiempo de descanso, de lectura, de pelis, de máscaras y hasta de baño reparador.
De esos que te renuevan el cuerpo y los pensamientos.
Fue una verdadera limpieza. Y un mimo que hacía muuuchoo que no me daba.
Qué bien nos hace parar la pelota un rato y darnos tiempo de calidad.
Sé que parece casi imposible a esta altura del año, pero si uno se lo propone, lo consigue. Y por eso mismo dije de calidad. No importa si son dos horas o toda una tarde. Lo importante es a qué actividades que te generan placer lo destines. Esas con las que siempre planeás realizar y después las pateás para adelante.
Frená un ratito. Has recorrido un largo año. Aunque se pase volando, son trescientos cuarenta y tres días que llevás andando. 343!!!
Date tu merecido mimo de fin de año, antes que éste termine.

This is Amy and her husband's story: "When I see that picture on the left from December 2017 I see three Ds: defeat, depression, disease.
Between the two of us we were surviving: high blood pressure, sleep apnea, high cholesterol and high triglycerides, border line diabetic, obesity, depression, high anxiety and three autoimmune diseases, but not truly living. We were VERY sick.
Thankfully that picture from yesterday, December 8, 2018 shows us not just living, but now THRIVING. We now have perfect blood work, normal blood pressure, perfect blood sugars, depression and anxiety are no longer in control. Loaded Cauliflower bake
4 cups cauliflower florets
8 oz shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
8 oz shredded Monterey jack cheese, divided ...
1 1/2 cups low-fat plain Greek yogurt
1 1/2 cups green onions , sliced
6 slices turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 clove garlic, grated
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. Steam cauliflower florets until tender
3. While cauliflower steams, cream together 4 oz of the shredded cheddar, 4 oz of the Monterey Jack, and yogurt.
4. Stir in sliced green onions, chopped bacon, and garlic
5. Set aside
6. Drain any liquid from steamed cauliflower and add to cheese mixture
7. Stir cauliflower and cheese mixture together
8. Taste for seasoning, and add as necessary
9. If you want a finer texture, give a few mashes with the potato masher
10. Pour into a 2-3 quart casserole and sprinkle on remaining cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese
11. Cover dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes; remove foil and continue to bake until cheese is brown and bubbly
