It's time for a repost of this 200×200 cm commission, that I was working on, at this very time last year. The biggest painting that I've ever painted and the only one, without a creature with a heartbeat.
I named it Blueming.
Some paintings is about a longing to express emotions, that words doesn't seem able to. But when the finished image leads me to something that fit the emotions, through the magic of symbolism, it feels like that's the meaning of the mysterius force, that deep down drives me to create. It feels like, I followed the rainbow and found a treasure, that I would'nt have, if I had planned the trip beforehand. I can only get there by following my intuition and let the subconcious speak in it's own natural language.
In that way I gain so much more, than when I try to hard, to control the experience, or the outcome.
The blue flower symbolizes the metaphysical striving for the infinite and it was a central symbol of inspiration in the Romanticism movement, that also has strong connections to symbolism, which both I found to be very interesting, and relatable to my process, partly in that the artists of the romantic era placed primary importance on the free expression, of the feelings of the artist and focused on emotions and moods of all kinds, including spirituality, imagination, and mystery.
