Third time’s the charm. The Yankees win!!!! It may have took seven innings to push some runs across, but we seal the win. Neil Walker’s clutch three-run shot in the seventh was the difference of this game. Although we won, this team has to do a better job of manufacturing runs, and not just relying on the homers. We only collected three hits as a team, and thankfully, one was the homer. Since joining the Red Sox, Nathan Eovaldi has struggled as a whole. But he still manages to shut down the Yankees. He threw 14 shutout innings against us this season for them. The good thing is Boston’s bullpen isn’t good, so we were able to get to them once Nate came out of the game. In a very quiet offensive game, Neil Walker serves as the difference for this one. He delivers a clutch three-run shot in the seventh inning to represent the only noise for the bats. That’s all we needed, as the Yankees go on to win it 3-2.
J.A. Happ tossed a brilliant game. Him and Eovaldi both limited the scoring. Happ tossed six innings, allowing one unearned run on four hits, walked three and struck out six. Thanks to Happ, he gave the Yankees an opportunity to come back, and that’s exactly what they did eventually. Chad Green and David Robertson both tossed shutout innings for the Yankees. Zach Britton earned the save for the Yankees. The ninth inning was an extremely sloppy one, but the save was locked down.
Judge: 0-4, K
Walker: 1-2, HR, 3RBI, R, BB, K
The Yankees will play game two of the series against the Red Sox tomorrow night at 7:05 ET. Luis Severino will get the ball for the Yanks, as David Price will for the Sox. Let’s take the series!!
