2 TIPS TO STOP GETTING FRUSTRATED ABOUT YOUR RESULTS
Stop asking other people what their macros or workouts plans are. What works for them won’t work the same way for you because you are two different people.
Stop focusing on what you are doing compared to other people and start focusing on what you are doing compared to what you were doing when you started.
Every person I used to compare myself to, I used to ask them for their macros and workout plans. I used to Google what Ashley Horner’s, Dana Linn Bailey’s, and Jamie Eason’s workout and nutrition plans were so that I could try and copy them.
The thing was, I wasn’t Ashley, Dana, or Jamie. I was Cat. So, the workouts and nutrition plans that they followed wouldn’t give me the same results they had. Just like my exact workout and nutrition plan won’t give you my exact results. I would be frustrated into tears because nothing was working, and I didn’t know how to fix it. I still fall into this trap sometimes by saying “Well that girl is the same height as me and she weights 10lbs less than I do…” and so on. Honestly, the comparison game will never stop.
What changed for me was my reaction to it. When I started to feel those seeds of envy and frustration I would stop scrolling. Take a deep breath. Remind myself that I didn’t and don’t know her story and that we are two very different people. That I am doing the best that I can do every day to make my life and body the healthiest and happiest it can be.
It’s not easy, ever. But it is a lot easier than going through everyday wishing that you looked like someone else.
You are special, you are beautiful, and you have so much to offer yourself. Once you accept that following X’s exact workout program or eating the same macros as Y won’t get you the results you are looking for, the results will come.
Instead of asking for someone’s specific plan, as them what they would recommend. Instead of “What are your macros?” ask, “this is my goal and my lifestyle, what would you recommend for me?”. Anyone else love working out or is it just me? I love going to the gym, taking care of my body, and waking up healthier everyday. It truly brings me joy. Shifting my focus from weight to a healthy lifestyle has been a significant shift in my life and has broken so many chains that I used in order to define myself.
