This is what it should be all about. Train your ass off. Sacrifice. Train your ass off some more. Compete. Bring your best and who ever is the best person at the end of the day, congratulate them on a hell of a job! Then do it all over and try to beat them next time!
What happened to the comradery in bodybuilding? Now a days back stage everybody’s EGO is through the roof. No smiles, no help, not even conversation.... I understand the “being focused” aspect but the work is done once your backstage. This should be the fun part, talking to other competitors and seeing different personalities, perspectives and preparations. Learning from each other’s experience as all preps are different! @bodyof_a_titan was an exception this show. My man was all smiles and upbeat the whole time. Great energy and so positive. I didn’t know he had prepped with @briangarrison but now I know. We all have bled the same, sweated the same, sacrificed the same to get here. Maybe some more than others but the point is to share an experience with each other and have fun not try and intimidate and let EGO and pride take over. Now as we grow into a new league as PRO’s we have make this a new standard and bring positivity to the sport. The golden era which is what classic Physique is all about was all smiles and having fun collectively! Let’s bring that back! Congrats champ! The first time I thought about dieting ... was grade 1. I had already been teased so much by family & at school for being “chubby” that by the time I was 6 years old I thought I needed to change my body. I hated it. For some reason everyone thought making fun of my ‘roundness’ was amusing- uncles, aunts, cousins, kids at school (but never ever my parents or sister- which I’m grateful for.)
This has been a lifelong battle for me. Lose weight, gain it back, lose it again, gain it back - never be satisfied. But this time - is different. It wasn’t a crash diet. It wasn’t a fad or trend. It wasn’t using any fat burners. It wasn’t starving myself. It was a long-term commitment to understand what I was working with & how to serve it best. Everyday. It was about finding joy in the process. Barely weighing myself - but counting how many more pushups I could do. How much more weight we could throw on the squat rack. How to make me the strongest physically & mentally. Because after all, just like running my first half-marathon several years ago- I had to believe I had the will power & strength & then commit to doing everything it takes to achieve the goal: a life change.
I’ve never been more strong & fit in my life. This was hard. Saying no to things I wanted (like wine & sweets!) Saying yes to lifting & cardio regularly. There will always be excuses. I just used them more often before. You choose everything in your life. You choose what you don’t have time for and what you MAKE time for. You choose what goes into your body. So where I am now - is a choice. A commitment. It is tough to be disciplined- but the results are so worth it. Because I’m choosing to end my battle with my body. It’s state will fluctuate - but now that I’ve seen what I’m capable of - I can’t use the same excuses I used to- and I’m so glad I can’t. This is my personal best.

I keep seeing ‘fit tips’ for the holiday season, and I just cringe😣! “Don’t eat this, don’t eat that”, “limit carbs until nighttime”, “have one full cheat day”, etc. Like NO!!!
Health and Fitness is a lifestyle!
How to make this a lifestyle? By making it sustainable, so you can achieve long term results.
➖ I follow an 90/10 approach to my diet. 90% of my diet consists of whole foods, the other 10% means, if I want a cookie.. imma eat a cookie!
➖ I do not label foods as good or bad. This will give you an unhealthy relationship with food. Yes, there are most definitely more nutrient dense foods, and I absolutely believe these are the foods we should be eating MOST of the time. But there are times that you will want a treat, something a little less healthy, maybe it’s processed, maybe it has quite a bit of sugar, and that is okay! You can incorporate those foods into your diet when you feel like them, in moderate amounts.
➖ the less deprived you feel, the more likely you will stick to your goals.
➖ I don’t cut any food groups completely out of my diet, unless they make me feel horrible (aka dairy, mostly whey), but if I want an occasional treat that has dairy in it, I will have it.
➖ workout how you like to workout. All exercise is great exercise, you need to do what you enjoy, not what your fav ig fitness models like to do!
➖ drink your water (I’m basically a fish, so I probably drink more than 99.9999% of people my size😂)
➖ be happy, smile lots, don’t compare yourself to anyone on social, bc just like me - this photo is a posed, fasted, snippet of my life.
➖ know that you are AMAZING. WAKE UP GRATEFUL EVERYDAY, you are blessed and an incredible human being.
