So I've decided to organize a super casual social for any Cape Town ladies keen to meet and make new friends. We all have one thing in common and that's being on a health/fitness journey, and no matter where you are in your journey, you're welcome to join or pop in and say hello! .
The plan is to pitch up, order some delicious food from the @sweetbeetsa menu and hang out. Tag your friends or meet some new like minded peeps 💚 .
Sweetbeet is a new foodie place in Canal Walk with a fantastic menu to fit any of your health requirements. .
Things I've learned across 200 workouts
1. I am incredibly lucky to be part of the @realfitness_uk community and that's what it is, a community. The amount of support I've received from people there, coaches and members is phenomenal. Particularly as I'm stealth member. I slide in when it's quiet then slide back out again.
2. I was really pretty unfit when I started. I'm somewhat more fit now.
3. Trying to workout at around 5 workouts a week every week, week in week out is really really hard. I thought I was pretty consistent in my gym stuff but I always had the option of a week off if I needed it. Not having that is tricky.
4. Getting fitter while in the middle of perimenopause is also really hard. But do-able.
5. I'm an accidental runner. Not as in I fall over a lot although that is entirely possible, as in over the course of the year I've taken up running. This surprised me more than anyone.
6. I'm not a fast runner. But 10 or 12 miles a week is 10 or 12 miles a week however slow.
7. I'm stupid enough to be planning a challenge after this one. This one will be to run 1000 miles in a year.
8. I'm not naturally weights strong and probably never will be. People keep talking about PBs and I'm like "the closest I'm getting to a PB is in a peanut butter sandwich".
9. That doesn't mean I'm not real life strong. I can carry heavy bags, help people off trains with suitcases etc
10. Just turning up each session and doing the best I can is what matters.

🔺Work from the feet up, spread your toes wide & use the whole feet to listen for feedback 👂🏼👣💬 ✔️
🔺Keep knees ‘soft’ ie not locked or holding tension ✔️
🔺Centre your pelvis over your feet ✔️
🔺Bring your pelvis into its upright (neutral) position, where pubic bone & 2 hip bones are in one level plane ✔️
🔺From here you will find the upper body centres over the pelvis ✔️
🔺Now connect your Powerhouse (do check out my new eBook ‘Discover Your Pilates Powerhouse’ for full detail & instruction, link in bio 💫), to support this length through the front line, widen the collarbone & use Pilates Opposition to send crown of head away from tailbone through back line ✔️
🔺Remain centred over your feet, watching leg alignment of hip bone ➡️ knee ➡️ centre of foot ✔️
🔺For the serious leg & glute work, keep pelvis centred over feet using the powerhouse to maintain a lengthened frame, working the feet & legs without disturbing the connected frame above ✔️
🔺Use your breath to move you, using the exhalation for the effort, ie where powerhouse is at its most connected ✔️
🔺This is such a fabulous centring exercise to really strengthen the whole body from the inside out, & is perfect for working with a partner ✨🤸🏻♂️🤸🏽♀️✨

When I moved to Fargo over a year ago, I didn’t know anyone! Besides my fiancé and his family, I had NO friends here.
Megan and I started work at the same office- on the same day- with the same name! It usually takes me so long to come out of my shell with new people but Megan really pushed me out of it and now she’s one of my closest and dearest friends.
We have so much in common it blows my mind! And now we have a shared passion for health and fitness that we have both turned into something huge!
Megan really helped push me to start coaching and I’m so thankful. She is so supportive and sees so much good and potential in me. It’s so fun to have someone to share this amazing experience with and I’m thrilled that it’s her 💕
I was scared and unsure when I moved away from home for the first time to a place where I didn’t know anyone. But God blessed me with a beautiful soul who taught/teaches me how to come out of my shell and show the world who I am! I can’t tell you how blessed I am to know her and have her in my life 💕

#tbt to a great weekend spent with some of my fittest friends. @tommyhacksaw coordinated getting all these studs to SLC for the @ourrescue fundraiser that year, it was an amazing experience. •
What likely ensued this weekend aside from the events:
@samdancing snuck in a few extra bench press reps. And also talked to about 100 people about Jesus because....why not.
@jameshobart and @colesager35 likely helped a woman deliver a baby, found a lost dog and returned it, then taught someone their first muscle up.
@richfroning and @mathewfras likely found away to sneak in some more fun shooting....and an extra series of workouts they told none of us about because #pewpew and “The Champs”.
@tommyhacksaw likely just worked all night building something at his gym the night before, didn’t warm up for the WOD, then did his portion and someone else’s because.....team first, oh and still probably won....because #affiliatecup •
And me and @brucepitcher we just bro hugged and high fived about being @raiders faithfuls from day 1. And sadly I know neither of us ain’t going anywhere even through this years turmoil. Keep your head Bruce, we’ll make it bro! 😜🏈💪🏽.

I had a million reasons not to workout tonight and only one reason why; ME! ❤️
It’s ok to take care of ourselves, it’s ok to make time for what keeps us on track and it is ok to Serve Ourselves first. 🙋🏼♀️
My phone was blowing up all day, omg I love the love!!! 💞 I had a million errands and was getting my truck back tonight after 35 days, had to return my rental, get dinner and prep for a busy weekend !! 👏🏻🙌🏻💙 s
But I told myself get in the gym and get the workout in. Because honestly when I serve myself I am able to serve others in my life. 😇🙏🏻🤝
