Squaring out the mortises to receive the back slats on this chair prototype. I’m still tweaking the design as I go along, so using handtools gives me a lot more in flexibility to make easy adjustments 👌🏻 #furnituredesign#woodworking
Spent a couple of hours working on the dining room chairs today. They seem to be coming together very nicely. Can’t wait to see the finished product but am also really enjoying the project. So much fun!
Domino joints throughout, quick, easy and strong. I do a dry run of each frame to check I have everything in place. Rebate as much as possible on the saw and router the rest.
Next it's off to the tanalizing plant.
Stay tuned for more.
The first of the two finished benches has tapered octagonal legs. The legs have round tenons that went all the way through the top and got wedges for strength. I then inlayed an octagonal piece of end grain oak in the top to make it appear that the tenons were octagonal. Cheating? Perhaps. But, I like the way it turned out. This bench was sanded all the way to 1200 grit and then finished with polymerized linseed oil.
After prototyping and looking at it in the real space, decided to make the cabinet wider (class will have plans for both sizes). Now it’s time to film cutting the domino joinery in the other cabinet and find a wider basket.
It’s that time of year again...

The right angle clamping guides are one of my most used shop jigs. I may have made too many, but that's fine 😁. What do you use? Have you made any of these? Bonus points for the person that can identify who's shirt I'm wearing in the video. #rightangleguides#mdf#tablesaw
