Once you understand this, you treat workouts differently. It’s not just aesthetic, it’s also a huge part of mental health and how you create new patterns for new behaviors in your life. The nervous system responds and creates new pathways according to habits, environment and creates feedback loops. The thing is, whatever current loop you got playing it can be changed. So you have the power to do so at all times. And working out to me is a door to make this changes, it creates space to change. #workout#nervoussystem#feedbackloop#change#bethechange#mentalhealth@impacttheory
Due diligence #duedilligence
A term that comes up #atwork Putting time and effort in to bring something to market. Generally, in a job, there are #incentives pay, and other returns on investment #ROI in what you do. People will notice your work, even if you do not get individual credit.
Online, you might spend a lot of time talking to yourself. #attention is premium real estate, and not only is everyone distracted by mainstream and mega-corp spam ads, videos, and offers, you have a layer of the smaller #onlineinfluencer brands, then #mirco-influencers and then...people like me. The 'start somewhere’ crowd.
We hit the ground running with diligence, but fall short on #consistent online content - think in terms of years of getting used to the online game, not just a couple weeks on Twitch or IGTV #goingviral and getting ‘fame deals’ like a very small percent of people do.
When starting, just do. Maybe the unbelievable stuff happens, and maybe it does not. The effort matters, the experience matters, the value that you add, but collecting likes and follows and money isn't what diligence is about 😁
Spanish colonists enslaved and eradicated Calusa, Apalachee and other first nations people in Florida by the end of the 18th c. Escaped survivors migrated to Louisiana, Mexico and Cuba. Muskogee (Creek English) people occupied the territory later (referred to as "Cimmaron" or wild/untamed by the Spanish) mispronounced "Seminole". Most Seminole and Miccosukee were slaughtered or forced to Oklahoma during the Indian Removal Act aka Trail of Tears by president Andrew Jackson. His portrait now hangs in the oval office above #45 desk. Surviving first nations people now occupy swampland in West Florida under constant threat of contemporary manifest destiny by developers. #research#indigenousamerican#firstnations#history#cimmaron#seminoles#agentorange#feedbackloop#trailoftears

We've all experienced it, we all know the effects it can have on our physical and mental health. But have you considered its impact on your gut health? Gut health and stress work in a sort of positive feedback manner, where high stress can lead to gut issues; then gut issues can impact on the amount of stress you feel. •
So when you are feeling stressed it's not only important to take some time to relax. Walking, yoga, taking a bath or getting a massage are common methods to calm your soul. It is equally, if not MORE important to concentrate on your gut health during these times. Eat a variety of different fibrous foods to increase that gut biodiversity and help to ease that feedback loop of stress - gut issues - stress. •
Yet another thing your dietitian can help you with!

I've been thinking a lot lately about how we (as a society) celebrate our successes, but don't necessarily celebrate attempts or failures. Today, I attempted a 5.9 on the lead wall... oh boy, I did not get past the 3rd clip. I could view this as a failure because I didn't get that far, but I learned a lot - I forget to breathe when I'm on an overhang, I can engage my feet more, and really, leading is SCARY and mentally exhausting. These are all things I can take and work on incrementally, to teach my body that some positions are ok even though my nervous system does not want me to hang on my tired arms. These are all things I wouldn't have learned if I didn't decide to give it a try.
This is one concept I wish we would celebrate more in life so that we can quickly learn what works, what doesn't, and what we need to work on. I see it starting to happen in IT with Agile methodologies, but we still get caught up in optics rather than the material. I also see it in scientific research - where we are concerned with getting expected results rather than the quality of what we find.
I think my point is this - don't be afraid to try. Not achieving your goal on the first try is ok. Instagram is a highlight reel and we don't always see how many times it takes to get it for the 'gram. Not getting it doesn't mean you're bad, it means you're getting feedback in learning what does and doesn't work.
