Can you imagine not having access to clean drinking water?
Some people are fortunate enough to live in areas where they're never too far from a faucet that they could access clean water from.
However, not everyone is so lucky.
According to a new report by @unicef , 1 out of 3 people do not have access to safe water. "Some 2.2 billion people around the world do not have safely managed drinking water services..." Water should be treated like gold. A faucet shouldn't just be left running for convenience sake.
If you're lucky enough to have access to clean water, start treating it like the precious resource it is. Limit your waste to help the world maintain this vital resource

Millions of gallons of water are wasted every year just in Britain alone from dripping taps and toilets, enough water to fill an Olympic sized swimming hundreds of times over 😲
Householders who ignore a these drips could run up an additional £100 in costs .......... and if it’s the hot water tap leaking, it could hike up their gas bill by a further £900 a year too!! That's before we even consider the effect it has on the environment #wisdomwednesday
Our India Director Om Sharma says that ‘our taankas are ready to capture the rain’, as we can see during a pre monsoon shower in one of our project villages in Charasada.
Thanks to the hard work of our partner PKS, families will be able to catch the monsoon rains to provide them with access to cleaner water and improve their lives.
"Imagine your children having to walk miles to fetch water, or you being unable to go to work because you need to spend hours digging a well- and then knowing the water you get might be contaminated with disease" @BBCSouthNews supporting @SmartHandpumps last night!
Ask your midwife about hand expressing.
Did you know that being able to hand express is a really useful skill?
Hand expressing can be used to help attachment, relieve engorgement and sort out a blocked duct. It is also the best way to express colostrum (the first milk). We recommend that all breastfeeding parents are familiar with hand expression before they leave the hospital/their homebirth midwife leaves after birth.
However you are planning to feed your baby, they can really benefit from having colostrum as their first feeds.
Parents who are choosing not to breastfeed can still give their baby colostrum by collecting prior to their baby’s before birth and give it to their baby via a syringe.
Colostrum is made by the body from 16weeks and is constant reabsorbed and replaced until the breast milk comes in. This means that it can be hand expressed in pregnancy, without effecting supply at birth.. Studies suggest that parents who become familiar with their anatomy, and express prior to their baby’s birth have more satisfactory breastfeeding experience.
Any expressed colostrum can stored in small syringes. Oral syringes can be purchased online, at a pharmacy or for a small donation (min £3 correct cash only) at our colostrum collection drop in.
Ask your midwife about hand expressing or come along to one of our FREE Colostrum Collection Drop In sessions

Water is the driving force of all nature, Leonardo da Vinci claimed. Across the globe, vast tracts of countryside have been reduced to desert because of overuse of water.
The continuing loss of water reserves is staggering. "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” J.R.R. Tolkien.

Abstain from flushing contaminated liquids, pills, drugs, or medications down the drain. .
These substances contain scores of toxic materials that destroy the quality of natural water systems. .
As our friends at @moreplasticthanfish have said, it is currently estimated that there will be more plastic than fish in our oceans by 2050.
That thought should wake everyone up. We can't keep ignoring the facts. That trajectory doesn't have to come to fruition if we all start working together to clean our water and stop plastic use.
That's the idea that @4ocean had and they are making a HUGE impact. They have removed 4.7 million pounds of trash from the ocean!! They have movements in countries across the world so if you're interested in helping, go check out their page for more info. If you're not close to an ocean, you can help by limiting your plastic use. Keep our water and land clean.
Countries need to follow the lead of Canada & other countries around the world planning on going plastic free!

Preschoolers at the Garden of Learning and Discovery Pre-K Center in New York partnered with @wemovement to raise awareness of the global water crisis.
These young kids should be an inspiration to everyone!! Read and watch the full amazing story here:
Even the smallest stone added to the top of a mountain brings the peak to new heights. ⛰
The significance of this is that even something small can affect the overall result of something large.
Imagine your goal is a full bucket of water. Every drop of water when looked at individually may seem insignificant, but over time those drops of water are going to be what eventually fills the bucket.
The little things in life matter!!
#ad This pea pesto pasta is so quick and easy to make, plus it tastes delicious and my kids love it!⠀⠀
To save water, just throw the peas in with the pasta for the last two minutes so they can cook together. As a bonus, there'll be less to wash up (meaning you'll save even more water!) and you can use any leftover water to feed your plants.⠀⠀
I used to live on a narrowboat just off the Thames in London, which is where I first became really water conscious. Not only were we surrounded by water and its wildlife, but having to fill our own water tank meant we always needed to be careful!⠀⠀
Water is such a limited resource that we can all do more to use less every day.⠀⠀
What are your top water-saving tips? ⠀⠀

#ad It only takes a few simple ingredients to make a spinach and strawberry salad, right? But one element that's usually left off the list is water.⠀⠀
Making a salad takes just a few minutes, but do you ever stop to consider the amount of water it takes, from growing the veggies to washing them at home?⠀⠀
My tip is to wash fruit and veggies in a colander over a bowl, rather than under a running tap. Then you can use the water to water the plants in your garden. If you've got homegrown veggies, it'll be like a salad circle of life 🙂⠀⠀
Any more water-saving tips for me?⠀⠀

#ad Just boiled veggies for dinner? 💚The leftover water will be packed full of nutrients...and your plants will love it!
Instead of pouring the water down the drain, I let it cool down, why not let it cool down and then fill up your watering can with it? My kids love watering the plants in the garden - you can see how happy Amelie is here! 🌱😍🥳 It’s cool to #bewatersmart#everydropcounts@officialthameswater#BeWaterSmart
Sometimes you might feel like no one’s there for you, but you know who will always be there for you? Laundry. Laundry will always be there for you.
I know laundry isn’t fun, but at least @dropps makes it’s super easy with their pre-measured pods that you can just toss and go. They’re also earth friendly: their packaging eliminates plastic and is recyclable and compostable! Thank you @dropps for gifting me this detergent! #everydropcounts#planetclean#plasticfree
