I bought a sweater the other day that said "and she never gave up."
There have been so many times that I needed that sweater.
The time I cried all the way back to my hometown with a new bachelors degree. I call the stretch from I-30 connecting Dallas to Texarkana the trails of tears. I knew my new degree was worthless in my hometown. Art? Pleaseeeee. I'm a dreamer, y'all, but I'm also a realist. I don't advise getting a bachelors in art and then going back to town where there are just paper mills and hospitals... unless you're willing to not just take a path less travel but create a new one entirely. "and she never gave up."
The time I literally took a bottle of wine outside leaned against my husband's truck and drank from the bottle with tears running doing my face while I let him "cry it out." I was up all night for the millionth time with a baby who just wouldn't sleep. No matter what I did. I read the books. We cried it out together. He wouldn't sleep. I felt this was a "parenting" problem and not a sleeping problem. Mom guilt was already very real and the incision on my abdomen was still fresh. Red, purple, and had no feeling. Oh, yeah, I couldn't do that either. Have a baby naturally. Welcome, mom guilt, welcome. "and she never gave up."
The time I walked out of my classroom for the last time. I only taught for 3 years and, y'all, I was good at it. I cared. The students learned. I was good... and I walked away. I walked away from a familiar and steady job. I made a choice. Honestly, I didn't know what choice I was making. I didn't know I would be doing what I am today. I was sacred. Scared to death. I left a good job where I was appreciated, I was happy, but I also knew every day that I was suppose to do something else. "and she never gave up."
My website copy is 90% done. Rebranding is almost complete. So much to do. SO much coming up. But I've done hard things before. And sister, so have you.
2019, I have a sweater hanging in my closet for you.

Don't be one of "those Instgram or photos" 📸🙄 Authenticity is one of the most important characteristics one can have.
It's important to show people your life... ...not just your lifestyle 🤪
Share what makes you, you
Don't just share all of the rainbows if you are not willing to share your storms too 🌈⛈❤ Moral of the story?
Don't be that photo on the left 🙄
Be the photo on the right 🤗
So your true self... ...it's what people love the most 😍

Life is to short to work on someone else’s dream while you could be working on your own dreams. Don’t settle for a paycheck at a profession you hate. Go out and do what you love while you still can.
