Thinking back to one of the happiest moments of my life. This is me dropping into the iconic 401 trail in Crested Butte Colorado this summer. After a grueling climb with my lungs reminding me that I was at 11,000 ft, I got to drop into 7 miles of descent through pure high alpine magic. There just so happened to be another rider @aidan.goldie who was set up on this berm and snapped this amazing photo, thank you. Stupid sexy mountains, you have my heart.
Unless you are into your road cycling or specifically xc riding, weight seems to have taken a back seat in the last few years.
Personally I think it's a good thing especially considering what we expect from our bikes disciplines.
I took these weight measurements earlier.
A fairly decent wilier road bike (carbon)
A carbon 5010 full suspension enduro/trail bike (carbon)
And an alloy chameleon hardtail moderately specced.
The only suprise was the hardtail was heavier than the full sus!
Being alloy I guess this is the main reason, but it just made me think about when we stopped caring about weight so much and concentrated on a bikes specific strengths and for that I'm glad to be riding a heavier bike. ✌️

Today was a long day! My BP after running Jet Hard! If I can get my top number to drop down after running her, then we should be good for the next race! Sprints are fun and all but the body does take a beating in the process! We still have time to meet our goals! Elevation will take any man down when riding in the wild West! We going to be better prepared this time! #mtblife#stravaphoto#originalathlete#stravacycling#enduromtb
