Built in 1968 Sheeps Head Marks the Southern tip of Bantry Bay.
Because of its remote location the building materials & equipment for its construction had to be airlifted by helicopter from Kilcrohan which is 9km away. This required 250 lifts.
When the Lighthouse was finished the helicopter then had to be used to lift the lantern, engine & control gear in to place.
The little Chapel at Gougane Barra is probably one of the most beautiful and peaceful locations I've ever shot.
I had the entire place to myself for about two hours eventhough I spent the first one in the car sheltering from the Monsoon.
The light after the rain was just unreal.
