When you just *need* 15 kid-free minutes to decompress, technology can be the ultimate sanity savor. (Thank you, @pawpatrol🙏🏻). In moderation, tech time isn't bad. But when it comes to screen time, where should parents draw the line? Learn more #ontheblog! ⠀
Ms. Sonya’s pre-kindergarten class had fun painting in fun new ways. They flicked painted rubber bands to splatter pain, painted with their toes, then painted with their heads!
Mathis has gotten lots of fun mail since we put out the apb for penpals including lots of stickers from my Instabestie (that’s a thing right?) @myhiroshima who I think I even met doing a postcard exchange 8?! Something years ago? (Is that right @justagadreamer) But I digress, anyways the grandmas totally got in on the game too. December was filled with lots of fun packages for Mathis from his Nana. My mom started this neat postcard exchange with him this month. She bought two identical boxes full of animal postcards and gave us one. She selects one, writes to Mathis, and mails it; Then we find the same card in the box, “write” on it and send it back. At the end Mathis and Grandma will each have a box full of postcards from each other. Pretty fun idea! So if you see any postcard sets out there on clearance grab two sets and start swapping with someone.

Lots of Mum's were taking about tummy time in Kildare and Carlow this week. Did you know, it only takes a few minutes of daily tummy time to start seeing results?
Tummy time is an incredibly important part of your baby’s development as it leads on to crawling. Crawling stimulates various parts of the brain responsible for visual processing, sensory perception, conscious planning and prediction.
We love tummy time in class and are always keen to share our ideas for tummy time activities at home. I've posted an article by our founder Dr Lin Day in my notes section (Facebook) with lots more info & tips for tummy time.
For those admiring the Lamaze tummy time toy here's a link to a version of it in Argos

RESCUE THE BEARS 🐻
I’m catching on that you are loving your counting bears as much as I do. 👉🏼So what’s next for them? FREEZE THEM. Of course, right? It’s winter, so bear ice pods it is. 🥶 •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
😃This activity is as much fun as it looks. The night before, place some bears in your muffin tin. Cover with water, pop in the freezer, and wait until that first 💆🏼♀️moment to pull them out the following day. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
And guess what?! There is even some educational reasoning behind this simple winter sensory bin. 💡As the ice melts, your child is exploring movement. Exploring movement of objects will also allow your child to explore gravity, motion, and problem solving. It’s a sensory, STEAM explosion of fun! •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Try this today! Details in the link in bio. ❄️

Wooden Beads + Puzzle = All about letters 🙌 This is such a fun activity for early letter identification! We talked about how different letters needed round 🔃 or straight ⬇️ beads depending on their shape and found the letters in our names 👌 Use rice or dry noodles if you dont have beads!
This is excellent fine motor control for little fingers and great for building perseverance... 26 letters is a lot of letters! ✏SnackSize🥨
Design a COmpuTeR🤖!⠀
Otherwise known as a tooter to mister Moo. We're designing our technological masterpieces at our crafter table, AKA dinner table transformed! I'm absolutely loving little projects like this ATM to help me play and connect to my growing daughter. I particularly like a project that has over days. We tend to go through the same process of #observations, #discussion, #design then #create.⠀
Of course my computer is a traditional one that connects to the internet 🌐. Missy’s one is a button computer. You push a button and the a light come on the computer. Genesis 😉. Hopefully we can attempt to build a real Light into her button. ⠀
Have you guys made computers? Or crafted ones?
Meet Chloe—Just 4 Me Dance Company’s student of the month! This beautiful smile on Chloe‘s face is what I get to see every week when I pick her up for dance class. That smile shows her love of dance, and the joy she gets from learning! She’s a quiet student, focused and eager to learn new technique and choreography. Her determination is contagious! It is a pleasure to have Chloe in dance class!
Lots of love,
Miss Irene 💖✨

Its way too hot to go outside right now (40 degrees C 😕) so I gave my new wooden play tray a work out with some SAND small world fun for today's #natureplayjanuary prompt. .
The other day at the wetlands we found a cracked open egg and brought it home to show hubby. Its probably a duck egg, but to suit todays ocean theme I suggested we use it as a penguin egg. .
Inspired by @our.mini.creations I used the "magic milk" experiment for the ocean - which looks really cool swirled together with blues and greens.
