Max Velocity Sprints Have Carryover to Most Sports. We train Max Velocity Aka Top Speed 1X per week, I’ve always trained it using Flys, In & Outs, MB Drops etc.
It’s common for those In team Field & Court Sports to neglect It with the Reasoning being most sports are played in short burst & only use Acceleration. BUT the benefits of training Max V go far beyond its specificity to the Sport. An athlete who learns to Run Tall with the hips under them then Improves their Absolute Speed will ALWAYS improve Acceleration.
Training Max V teaches athletes how to Relax while Sprinting.
When training Speed in General to improve Speed athletes must be given adequate Rest so that each Rep is Fresh & Fast. General rule of thumb is 1 minute for every 10 Meters Sprinted BUT when working with Not Elite Level Athletes or Sprinters that can be chopped down to 40- 45 Seconds due to the Fact they don’t quite have an Heim. BUT the more explosive & Fast And Athlete is the closer we stay to the 1 Minute per rule.
Train Top Speed it’s one of the BEST things I’ve seen for Hamstring health when done correctly with minimal volume & adequate rest. @c4sportoklahoma
Accommodating Resistance with the Band Tension makes the Weight heavier at the Top when it’s usually at its easiest point, Forcing you to Finish each Rep.
