"When you encourage a horse so much inside that its external expression seems to explode, if only for a moment, then a very special kind of connection takes place. A horse loves nothing more than the being who understands how to nurture him properly." (KFH School)

Then we walked all the herd, the stallion constantly ran free and happy, and I was happy when I watched him like that.
Maven was used as a work horse her whole life. Working in extreme conditions and being forced to pull heavy logs out of the woods took a toll on Maven's body and her spirit. When the farm Maven lived on came under investigation by authorities, one of our other rescued residents, Max, was immediately removed from the property due to serious neglect. Maven appeared to be healthier and was left behind while the investigation continued. That's when Maven took matters into her own hooves and ran away from the farm. Shortly after she was brought to Peace Ridge to be with her friend Max and receive care while the investigation continued. Maven's freedom did not come without a fight, but in February of 2018 Maven officially became a forever resident of Peace Ridge. Maven is strong and beautiful and can always be found at the side of her best friend Max. She loves soaking in the sunshine and can often be found stretched out on the ground napping to rest her once very overworked hooves. Her life is her own now and Maven will never have to work again. #AnimalRescue#WhereTheyCanLiveInPeace#horses#drafthorse
Life update: I’m living the life!!! 🦄 I’ve been in “Dori Boot Camp” as they like to call it and it’s been really fun! I’ve been working a lot on the flat with my riders. It’s fun to learn new things! My buddy @jiliannmiller comes to visit every so often and brings me carrots 🥕 which I devour very fast 😋 the hay here is amazing...I can’t get enough!! They had to put it in a hay net when I’m in my stall so I don’t inhale it within a minute! I find it very annoying 🙄 Anyways, just wanted to update you guys and say how happy I am!! I hope you’re all staying warm in this weather! ❄️🥶
The one and only thing I hate about this horse is the fact she does not photograph well at all. Her color washes out. Hopefully one the sun comes back out I can get photos of her in the sun in hopes her true color will show
Today I went to the store to stock up on feed. Walking past the registers @tractorsupply I saw a box with two giant plush horses—the spitting images of Finnegan and Dozer. AND they were on clearance. They took up all the cart room and I hadn’t even reached the feed yet but #makeitwork. Of course the first thing I did upon getting home was introduce my horses to their toy counterparts. They were not as thrilled as I was.
I’m going to share a few other pics in my stories.
Tractor Supply is in no way affiliated with or sponsoring this post. I’m just unreasonably excited about this.
FINALLY got to ride in the arena today. But first I let Jenny get some ants out of her pants in the round pen. Got to work on my darn left hip, and after really working on getting those muscles to work...voila...soft left bend. Omg was I sore after. But so addictive. Now I’m gonna be chasing that high of a soft and supple horse that comes from the seat alone. Part of me wonders if riding hunt for so long made me lose it...or if I never had it all along. Probably the latter. 🤣🤣🤣🤷🏻♀️ #drafthorse#draftcross#thoroughbred#thoroughbredcross#dressage#horse#horses#equine#equestrian
