Eating disorders aren't just an assault on a person's psyche, they also affect your dental health. Your doctors play a vital role in recognizing eating disorders. Dentists, often times, are one of the first to notice whether or not a patient may have an eating disorder. You might wonder, "how can a dentist know that?" Due to the nature of binging and purging, dentists are the first to notice signs of wear on the enamel due to acid erosion, bruising of the soft palate, and irritation of the oral tissues.
Prosthodontists can treat the dental complications of eating disorders. Once a proper oral hygiene routine and open communication with your dentist is established, restorative treatment can begin. Tooth colored fillings, veneers, and crowns can repair the damage and restore a brilliant smile.
Some primary care physicians (PCP) avoid the subject of eating disorders with their patients due to the sensitive nature of the disease. While dentists can treat one of the many side effects, it is important that you speak with your PCP as well as a mental health provider to treat the underlying cause.
If you or someone you know is struggling with eating disorders, please do not hesitate to get help. Contact your PCP, a trusted friend or family member, or the National Eating Disorder Association at 1-800-931-2237.
Hi, ya’ll! I want to introduce the second edition of #stuffydentalartwork (ok, the hashtag could use some work). To formally launch the Today Dental art program:
Every three months our office art will be curated by a different local artist. We want our patients to see art they, perhaps, would not be exposed to otherwise giving them unique views while at the dentist and a glimpse into the local art world while providing exposure to local artists.
This month we are featuring work by Phomohobes. A bio written by the artists: 'Phomohobes' is a collaboration between artists Jason Cawood and Colby Richardson, largely working with paper collage. Their images are drawn from commercial sources that have outlived their utility in consumer culture, and are reassembled and repurposed as playful, surreal, perverse and challenging compositions.
Do you like art? Do you like supporting local artists? Do you need a cleaning or dental work? This is the place for you. Come check it out!

Get on a Schedule
Many people find that setting a sleep schedule helps them fall asleep easier.
Your body has its own regulatory system called the circadian rhythm. This internal clock cues your body to feel alert during the day but sleepy at night.
Waking up and going to bed at the same times each day can help your internal clock keep a regular schedule. Once your body adjusts to this schedule, it will be easier to fall asleep and wake up around the same time every day.
It is also important to get seven to nine hours of sleep each night. This has been shown to be the optimal sleep duration for adults.
Lastly, give yourself 30 minutes to an hour to
wind down in the evening before getting in bed. This allows your body and mind to relax and prepare for sleep.
Dentistry can be really expensive when we procrastinate and let the disease take over. Prevention is always recommended. Come see us twice a year to keep those pearly white healthy and make sure you won’t ruin your budget.

So if your kid is like our Lea and ask for 500$ a tooth make sure the tooth is inspected by the tooth fairy.
How much cost a baby tooth in your area?
Our client came to us looking for options to improve a discoloured front tooth. Whitening, veneers and bonding were all discussed and a decision was made to proceed with the least invasive option. Under the skilled hands our our dental team we were able to improve the
colour, shape and overall look of her smile by layering bonding material. We think you'll agree that the results are pretty impressive.
A true work or "dental art" that our client is thrilled to display when she smiles.

This month, we're sharing stories of amazing men in honour of Father's Day!
In 1942, Nils Bohlin began working for Saab Aircraft Company as an aircraft designer in charge of ejection seats and pilot rescue systems. However, his legacy has more to do with cars than planes…
Seatbelts in the 1950s were single strap with a buckle over the stomach. This design led to many injuries or worse in high-speed crashes. In 1959, Bohlin became chief of Volvo’s Automotive Safety Department, changing the course history.
Bohlin spent the next year devising the three-point seat belt—a system that was comfortable and simple, but protected the upper and lower body. It was a revolution.
In 1963, Volvo recognized the significance of this technology and decided to make Bohlin’s design free for use by all car makers. The belt went on to reduce the risk of death in car accidents by 45%. As a result, the United States and a number of other national governments made it mandatory to equip front seats with the technology.
Since then, the design has changed very little. Bohlin retired from Volvo in 1985, and was awarded the Ralph H. Isbrandt Automotive Safety Engineering Award, a medal from the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, and was inducted into the U.S. National Inventors Hall of Fame.
Who are the amazing men in your life? Share a story about your father, brother, or friend and tag them in this post!
