Part 2 of ???... What can I do in 20 minutes a day that will make my life better in 30 days?
Read part 1 from yesterday. Follow me @michael.mehlberg for part 3 tomorrow!
PLANNING PREVENTS UNNECESSARY FAILURE
Planning a big project makes sense. With all the moving parts, deadlines, stakeholders, and budgets, creating a plan for a big project is fundamental to its success.
Imagine trying to build something as complicated as a house without planning in advance. Even simple things like hanging drywall before stringing electrical could set you back an enormous amount of money and time. The drywall team wouldn't notice or care that the electricity wasn't installed; they'd just finish the job like you asked. The electrical team wouldn't care that the drywall was already up; they'd tear down chunks as necessary to make room for their installation.
In the case of piloting an airplane, planning for common failures also makes sense. If ice ever builds up on the propeller (like in my story from yesterday), you don't want to be inventing solutions while cruising at 35,000 feet. Panicking and making the wrong decision could mean certain death.
They say, "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger," so it's best not to die when learning through failure.
PLANNING SAVES ENERGY
More practically though, planning, whether to take on a big project or to prepare for in-flight problems, saves energy.
When you've planned thoroughly, your end-goal doesn't seem so insurmountable. Having a plan is the tantamount to laying stepping stones between where you are and where you want to be.
Should you encounter obstacles along the way, you'll still be ahead of someone who doesn't have a plan. You won't have wasted brainpower on simple expected issues, leaving plenty of energy to deal with the unexpected.

“Many people come to me for coaching in search of the right tips, tricks and hacks for success. The truth is that this only makes up for a mere 20% of my success. The rest is mental and spiritual. If you are living in your past or filing your mind with useless information then your future will parallel this. If you are spiritually empty then no matter how much you obtain in the physical you will never feel fulfilled within. Stop searching for lazy bypasses to reach the top. Exercise your mind to be resilient and stay grounded in the spiritual to keep your mind finely tuned for the challenges you pursue.” - @iamjoelbrown#entrepreneurships#worksmarternotharder#digitalmarketingstrategist#quote#doer#millionaires#billionaireboysclub

I am part #learner, part #doer! I consider one can not perform without the other. We are always a mix of ingredients, just like our crystals, produced by melting a mixture of quartz sand, minium, potash and soda at high temperatures and ... I cannot say more, some secrets are better not revealed!

How do you Invest in your employees to enjoy sustainable growth?
Today's business leaders are beginning to look inward to analyze how people experience their workplaces. Inclusive leaders want to know how their team members work and respond to their environments, from human interactions to corporate culture.
Here are five ways companies can invest in their people's success and enjoy a more sustainable business.
1. Cultivate a culture of honesty.
Skilled communicators hold power. Poor communication is a leader's conscious decision not to improve and failure to communicate costs money and compromises bottom lines. Leaders of the future must create a culture of honesty. The flow of truthful information within the environment fosters courageous conversations.
2. Understand the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
Wellness encapsulates a range of programs aimed at protecting employee Innovative programs and resources aimed to improve their employees' financial wellness, mental health, nutrition, movement, mindfulness, sleep and stress management, health, boosting performance and embracing employee health and wellbeing.
3. Indulge in some soul food.
Volunteering time to help another human being contributes to the greater good. A company's commitment to community and social responsibility creates an environment that makes a difference in the lives of its employees, helps build loyalty to the business and can impact the organization's ability to attract and retain top professionals.
4. Conduct a SWOT analysis.
Prioritizing professional development adds credibility to a brand, increasing marketability both within and outside a business. Leaders can conduct a self-check with a SWOT analysis: strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to develop short- and long-term goals.
5. Recognize that human capital is a company's scarcest resource.
Any organization's success lies in the happiness, competence and expertise of the people behind the business. The most transformational thing a company can do for its people is to invest in creating work environments that unleash intrinsic inspiration.
6 Ways to Become Smarter Every Week
To be successful in business, you need a nimble mind to react to problems faster and you need to be adept at understanding whatever is thrown your way. In short, your ability to succeed is often determined by how smart you are.
Follow these 6 tips and you can become a little smarter every week.
1. Spend time reading every day.
The mind is like a muscle: the more you use it the stronger it will become. Reading is an important element for developing your mind, as it’s one of the basic ways we gain knowledge and learn. Reading can help you discover new things and educate yourself on any topic.
2. Constantly question and seek clarification.
Asking questions is the single most important factor in becoming smarter. Innovation always begins by asking questions and being curious. There is value in asking questions because it’s the way we push the boundaries of our world and our minds.
3. Diversify your day.
One of the best ways to increase your intelligence involves flexing different areas of your brain. By inviting a little novelty into your daily life, you keep things fresh and interesting. You can also mix things up during working hours by simply finding new ways of doing your everyday tasks.
4. Review learned information.
We recall new information most crisply right after we’ve learned it. If you don’t use that information again soon after you’ve learned it, it will quickly fade from your mind. In order to increase our ability to remember, we need to frequently review what we’ve learned until it’s locked in our memory banks.
5. Keep track of your ideas.
As you work to build your knowledge base, you’ll find your mind expanding and growing in new ways. If you’re filling your brain with great information, your mind is going to do its thing and start interpreting that information in a useful way.
6. Allow yourself to change.
Whether we realize it or not, sometimes we hold ourselves back. To become truly intelligent, you must allow yourself to make mistakes, to take risks and leap at an opportunity and learn from all these experiences.
