Mary Grace at the Gateway Mall
This place is known for their desserts specifically their Ensaymada and Cheese rolls (a must try i should say). But I wanted to try their dishes specifically their pasta. Today i ordered their Leek and Saffron Cream with Dory Fillet and their traditional Carbonarra (cream based pasta). The pasta dish came with garlic bread that is perfectly toasted. Most meals will take a good 15-20minutes... so come in ready with with a book or a good topic for conversation.
First up... the Leek and Saffron Cream with Cream Dory Fillet. Overall the meal wasn't as heavy as i expected it to be (it's cream based). The saffron can be appreciated in the cream and does not overpower. The leaks give it a subtle herb taste to the dish. Truly as promised the Cream Dory fish melts in your mouth.
Second up is their traditional Carbonarra dish which is creamy and light. The sprinkling of bacon and mushroom is balanced which gives it a good and not too greasy feel to the food. The serving for me is hefty and satisfied me nicely. Overall I would say this is one of the better carbonarra's out there that wont hurt your pockets.
The only concern is that the place is cramped up and the servers were a bit unattentive. It is a place where high volume of people go to hence the usual "homey" feel is lost. Still a nice go to place in Gateway when pasta is concerned
