Just one more day until Valentine's Day! If you are a military spouse then you probably live nowhere near family, you might not have a trusted babysitter established for date night, and you might have given up on dates years ago! 🙋🏻♀️ Oh wait maybe it's just me, but just in case here are a few ideas for a night in the whole family can enjoy! 😘.
. Make you own pizza night! Arrange all the toppings in decorative bowls. Use large heart cookie cutters to make mini personal pizzas. Use sliced olives, bell peppers, and pepperoni to leave a "dirty" message on your husband's pie when the kids aren't looking and get a game of Sleeping Queens going while the oven does it's thing.
. Family Movie Night! Pop in your favorite Romantic Comedy (French Kiss) or a Disney classic (The Rescuers) and top popcorn with mini chocolate chips, caramel drizzle, or parmesan and jalepenos if you can handle the heat 😉.
. Chart the stars! Early sunsets make getting the kids to bed and casting shooting star wishes both a possibility. Download the Star Chart app and get ready to explore galaxies, constellations, and all the wonders of the night sky. Make it extra special by pulling out sleeping bags, pillows, telescopes, and camping mugs filled with hot cocoa.
.Ask for help. This year we took advantage of our friends' offer to watch the kids so we can go out this weekend. We often ignore offers for help, or only use them when we need to like conflicting doctors visits, or doing taxes. This year it's for fun! Say yes to help, seek out recommendations for trusted sitters, trade watching another couple's kids (or dogs 😂) for watching your own a different night! Take the help!
I didn’t know my strength until I decided to keep going.
There have been times where I’ve wanted to give up on my dream of becoming a doctor. There have been times when I get like I would never be good enough. There were times where I felt like I’d be okay shrinking my dreams and trying to find something easier.
I decided one day to accept that my dreams are big. I decided to accept that I was worth putting in the hard work. I decided to stop giving up, and in the process I found my strength.
“Sushi? Sushi! You think this is about sushi?!”
You didn’t think I would let 2319 day pass by without publicly sharing my love for my favorite movie ever made, did you? Thank goodness for sushi blankets, hot chocolate, and this masterpiece.

While the Japanese call the art of paper folding origami, it is zhezhi in China where paper was invented.
We spent some time making jumping frogs last night and had fun making them play leapfrog and do flips when we were done.
This is the perfect time to do a Mulan movie night because Lunar New Year is coming up on Tuesday. One of the traditions on this holiday is to give monetary gifts to friends and family in red envelopes. The red color signifies good fortune for the upcoming year. This time, the kiddos got chocolate coins. And you know I couldn’t resist putting Mushu on the front of ours!
Look, you get porridge, and it’s happy to see you! 🐉
Congee is a traditional rice porridge served in Asian countries. It is simple, comforting, and delicious (even the kids ate it!) This makes it the perfect recipe for Mulan movie night! •

Another successful Disney movie night, featuring Coco.
The food was so delicious I forgot to take photos.
We had chips and salsa, sweet barbacoa pork, homemade tortillas, Mexican street corn, refried beans, Spanish rice, Sopapillas with ice cream, and a frothy limeade.
We also colored some sugar skulls.
All around, a very fun fiesta.

Ever wonder what Aurora would have eaten after her 100 year nap? My mind always goes to coffee then breakfast foods. I decided to mix our movie night up a bit and had a Sleeping Beauty slumber party instead! My little prince and princess loved the French toast with ‘Make it pink, Make it blue’ fruit topping. All of the recipes and the details for Fauna’s cake and fairy wands will be on the blog soon. What food would you look forward to after a century long nap?
I followed Fauna directions, folded in some eggs and tsps into some cake batter to recreate her beautiful birthday cake for Sleeping Beauty’s 60th anniversary. It may be a little shorter than the one she made, but it was still quite delicious!
Sleeping Beauty has always been apart of my life and so thankful to have so many sweet memories associated with it for all these years. 💗💙 Happy Birthday Princess Aurora!

Me and my little Beastie 💚 I always wanted to grow up to be Princess Aurora, but I’m passing the torch to Charlie Beth. I don’t mind being Maleficent after watching Disney’s live action movie. She’s one bad mama jama!
