Awards! There is a huge percentage of awards that people apply for themselves. At @glprouk we don’t apply for awards ourselves, if we are nominated by someone else then we will be humbled and excited but we don’t waste time apply for multiple awards just so we can have something to hang on our wall or put on our website...
When you are looking for a company don’t go by the awards they have won, go by the work they have produced or testimonials from people who have worked for them...
Don’t get seduced by companies awards as they might only be worth the paper they are printed on.
Love it or hate it, social media is a part of our everyday lives! Embracing it is much less painful than fighting it 😄

The more I’ve got into business, the less I’ve read.
Yep, that goes against the whole ‘Read a book a day’ mantra, or whatever 💩 the people trying to sell their subscription boxes spout ...
But reading lots does put you at risk of information overload.
Or, more specifically, idea overload.
See, we all get excited when we read lots of books. 📚📚📚
“Ooooh, I need to get on that platform” ...
“That’d be a great idea for my next blog” ...
“Why haven’t I tried THAT yet?” ...
It’s great getting new ideas ... but that can often stop you from consistently implementing ideas you already have.
Most stuff ‘works.’
The reason why most people fail with it though, is because they fail to apply what they know with ruthless consistency, and thus bounce from one I’ll-conceived idea to the next, without ever working long enough to see the fruits of their labour.
So for me?
I do still read business books ... but at a much lesser volume that I once did.
I also stick to those I know I can implement, and that at least somewhat align to what I believe.
I’d also rather they were based on human psychology, 🤔 not whatever fancy hack or trick is all the rage. 💽 📺
All that stuff changes ... human psychology doesn’t.
My top reads?
✅ “Titans of Direct Response.” (Various authors.)
✅ “All Marketers Are Liars.” By Seth Godin
✅ “The 4-Hour Work Week.” By Tim Ferriss
✅ “The Advertising Solution.” By Craig Simpson and Brian Kurtz.
And I’m sure this new edition of “Ogilvy on Advertising” By David Ogilvy will make it into the list.
Extra knowledge is great ... but only if it’s applied.
