Sometimes, if you look a little more carefully, you might see things you hadn’t before...
The last few days have been pretty heavy for me on social media and I’ve loved hearing your comments about what I’ve had to say. I’ve received some truly lovely messages, one even from a girl who saw my account and posts and decided to enrol herself back in some photography courses and start shooting again. Isn’t that amazing?! Social media is so wonderful!
But today is something a little more light hearted, in the form of this furry critter. As we walked around Garden of the God’s, a little boy was shouting ‘there’s a skunk in there! Don’t go near!’ and most of us adults looked baffled. As IF there would be something in this tiny rock crack. But we still all took the advice of this five year old and we all stuck our heads in the crack of this rock to see what was there. Initially, we couldn’t see much, and a few people walked away. But a bit of waiting later and to my surprise there really was something in there! But what was it?!
A bit of research later and it turned out he was a ringtail, a sort of desert cat! He was kind enough to show his little face to me as I stuck my camera in his direction (read: wedged) and he was a little reminder to me that sometimes you just have to look that little bit closer at things. It took a little persistence before he would show me his face, and he was just so cute. I think everyone saw how excited I was to have seen him, I basically turned back into an excited child 😹 (I was 4000 miles from home and missed my dogs, this little guy was my comfort haha!)
So if you’re feeling uninspired, maybe you’re a photographer and you’ve photographed a venue time and time again for example, just look for the little things. The change in light. A slightly different pose to before. A new way to get your clients to interact. Find a new way to do what you always do and always persist. You never know what you might find!
