Venues play a huge role in carving out the identity of your event. Do you want it to be formal? Rustic? Modern? Old world?
This gorgeous entryway belongs to @middletonlodge , a Georgian country estate set on 200 acres located in the north of England, dating back to the late 1700’s.
This gorgeous palladian mansion set the scene perfectly for Sarah and Rich’s fall 2018 wedding, offering a formal setting for an exquisite dinner as well as cocktails in the parlor…yet comfortable enough for guests to wander the gardens with a cup of tea and (most importantly) dance with the Bride and Groom into the wee hours of the morning.
Designing a wedding should be a total reflection of who the Bride and Groom are as individuals, as well as the life they have built together…and it all starts with the perfect venue.
So I guess the question really should be...are YOU formal? Rustic? Modern? Old world? Because the more your wedding reflects who you are, the more you are truly going to love it.
Next up: Barcelona. What I expected was the eclectic energy and the buzz of a high paced city, but what I received was a culture of people taking time to enjoy the simplistic of things .....a walk, a coffee, a friend, the streets, the sites.... Leaving me with the nudging reminder to slow down.
I interrupt your feed of wedding planning talk to ask this important question…does anyone else love to do house projects in the winter?
As the weather is getting colder, I am inevitably moving inside and taking on the yearly task of purging, cleaning, pinning beautiful interior photos on Pinterest (you know…all the ones you could never afford to do), renovating, making cookies and caramels…and everything else that helps me feel free of the clutter and craziness of the rest of the year.
First on the docket in our 1930’s fixer-upper is to finish my office that I started eons ago (I am still missing a door 🤦♀️)…and next will be finishing our dining room and front hallway…refinishing floors, painting walls, changing out the mantle on our fireplace, adding artwork (this photo from @thewarmemorial is giving me all of the inspo), and finally finishing the 12’ antique dining table my hubby and I were gifted last year from a friend (I can’t wait to have a table that fits ALL of our family in one seating...although it might take me another year to buy all of the chairs required to do that 😳).
Special shout out to @lmld_vintage who is helping all of my antique and architectural salvage dreams come true! If you are looking for anything special or if you are a lover of all things antique (like me)…this shop is the place to look (go follow them)!

I’m so excited to be going to Ireland today for the @engagesummits conference! First up, a stop in Dublin with friends!!!
I’ve had the honor of planning a destination wedding in Ireland in Donegal at the Louth Eske Castle and loved the Irish hospitality! Can’t wait to be back in the Emerald Isle and for my Irish adventure the next 2 weeks!
A year ago today this wonderful couple, Lauren and Michael, had their second wedding reception at Lauren’s parents home in Peoria, Illinois following their Aspen wedding the week before. I feel so honored to have been trusted to plan and design both events!
The night was quite a night!!! Cocktail hour in the tent, a tent evacuation due to tornadoes in the area, then a rocking dance party inside her parents basement followed by a surprise late night pizza truck all the way from Chicago!

As my season is slowing down, with only a few weddings left for the year, I am now contemplating the future. Mainly the future of FF and what next steps I want to take for 2019 and beyond.
I will be spending a lot of time formulating a few new projects that I will reveal in the New Year…but I want to start discussing the art of planning and showing a little more of my process along the way for other Planners, Vendors and couples looking to learn a little more about what ‘planning’ and ‘coordination’ actually mean.
I truly believe that amazing events not only look beautiful…but are logistically well thought through from the beginning of the planning process to the execution…and I think it is about time I start sharing my knowledge for those who wish to learn this craft…a craft that is actually not talked about too much. How do you actually ‘plan’ a wedding?
Is this something you would be interested in hearing more about?
So…as a taster to show some of the ‘behind the scenes’ of my processes…here is a mood board I made for my upcoming December wedding (along with some amazing people you should follow). Full of lightest blush, gold accents, and romantic vintage items…this wedding has me so excited…and I can’t wait to show you more.

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of coordinating a beautiful wedding for two amazing people at one of my favorite places...Lovett Hall!
Kristina and Wes’ wedding day was full of family, beautiful flowers, and one incredible dress. And for me, it was such an honor to be part of this special day!
I wish you two all the happiness in the world and I hope you have an incredible honeymoon in Iceland (super jealous)!
Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of crossing the Atlantic to witness one of my best friends marry the love of her life.
Sarah and Rich were married in the small town of Middleton Tyas in the north of England (not too far from where Sarah and I grew up)…and between the people, the venues, the surrounding landscape, and the details of the day…it was one stunner of a wedding!
I am so excited to share this highlight video from @appleyardproductions showing just how amazing and beautiful their day was! Enjoy!
