Enjoying some desserts in La Jolla. I follow the 80/20 rule. 80% stick to a strict diet, 20% enjoy a "cheat" meal. Meaning ENJOY LIFE. Having discipline and consistency is excellent attributes. But we live a short life span, so enjoy life. Enjoy that slice of moist, delicious black forest cake, or enjoy that pistachio baklava, but enjoy it one day a week, or once a month or just in moderation every day depending on your goals. Happy Sunday.
#discovernevis There's rum punch and then there's 'Real Rum Punch'!
You'll know it's real if you're tipsy after just one sipsy!

📍The Hermitage Inn, Nevis (St Kitts' little sister isle).

🎦A 45s 'behind-the-bar' video...proof that it's best to travel during the low / slow season.
🙋As the only guest at the historical, charming inn that night, I got to hang out in the kitchen with the restaurant's chef and bartender as they prepped for the following day.
I couldn't ask for a more intimate guest experience nor more royal treatment than this!
While watching the vid, did you notice:
• the workout you can get from manually squeezing all those lemons?
• that the bartender added an extra bottle of rum to his concoction?
• that the rums were from Nevis (Moko Jumbie) and Antigua (Antiguan Gold Rum)? With the added splash of Angostura Bitters from Trinidad and the grated spice from Grenada, this rum punch was truly representative of the Caribbean islands!
• the reusable bamboo straw instead of plastic?
• my facial expression after my first sip?
This was a definite #knockoutpunch
The generous rum to fruit juice ratio gave a surprise kick or more aptly, a 'punch' in the throat! 😜🤛
I chose to follow up my rum punch with a slice of delicious carrot cake and some warm melted chocolate mousse topped with coconut ice cream
It was Caribbean dessert feasting at its finest!
And this was all before I had my dinner...yes, I prefer to have my dessert first. Anyone else like me?
Needless to say, my stomach went to bed smiling
🍨Ed's Real Scoop🍦.
On the list of top ice cream spots in Toronto, we just couldn't resist when we walked by on the way to dinner and saw the lineup and customers enjoying their scoops outside! So of course we grabbed our dessert before dinner and tried the Burnt Marshmallow and Crème Brûlée flavours. I have to say their Crème Brûlée was stellar, but my fave Burnt Marshmallow still goes to the one I posted about two days before this. They have so many interesting flavours here that I would love to come back for more next time I'm in the east end of town though!
