Guys I am stoked. I just took a step back and compared my current credit card situation to where I was before starting this journey. My balance on my Citi Card is $5390. It’s been so long since I’ve seen it so low. While that’s still a lot of money owed, I was almost always skirting the line of maxing out my card before ($7200). Another one is $6675, which used to be $7500. Another is $0!!! Which used to be $2,000. It just gets better and better as the balances decrease. I always want to throw just a little bit more toward it! That citi card will be $0 by the end of May!
Even if you are not debt free yet and maybe won’t be for a really long time, recognize the strides you’ve made so far. We are debt slaying warriors!!! 👏🏼⚔️🐉👏🏼⚔️🐉👏🏼 #debtfreegoals#debtfreecommunity#debtfree#debtfreejourney#debtfreedom#debtsnowball#babystep2#creditcards#budget#frugal#slay#recognition#patontheback
My love for traveling is real! People often ask how we go on two trips a year. We cut so many corners and that adds up. Especially the food budget. Limiting eating out and buying junk food gives you more cash for vacations.
I’m 2017 we did NO fast food (anything with a drive through we considered drive through) all year! It was amazing! Saved lots of money and ate much healthier even on the go!

Re-reading this! Thanks for reminding me @geri_howard 💕 #happinessproject .
A little blurb: 'I had everything I could possibly want—yet I was failing to appreciate it. Bogged down in petty complaints and passing crises, weary of struggling with my own nature, I too often failed to comprehend the splendor of what I had. I didn’t want to keep taking these days for granted. The words of the writer Colette had haunted me for years: “What a wonderful life I’ve had! I only wish I’d realized it sooner.” I didn’t want to look back, at the end of my life or after some great catastrophe, and think, “How happy I used to be then, if only I’d realized it.”'

Sadly I’m no stranger to seeking the American Dream via a “get rich quick” scheme.😬 Over the years I have “sold” vacuums, skin care, oils, and clothing.
Vacuums, skin care, and oils were all short lived. I still use oils, just don’t sell.
Clothing, specifically LuLaRoe, was the big dog. I invested thousands and actually stuck with it for almost 2 years. Of all the schemes I got myself into LLR was the one that actually made me money. It was a dangerous venture considering that we had zero savings and the $5k+onboarding fee was paid for with a credit card.
We ended up turning a profit but many other consultants did not fare so well.
Stay tuned for more details on my LLR years. #solongdebt#debtfreegoals#debtsnowball#debtfreedom#debtfreedreams#debtfreecommunity#debtfreejourney#debtfree#budgeting#budgetlife#ifitstogoodtobetrueitprobablyis

I was just updating some numbers and realized something AWESOME...we’ve officially paid off just over 20K since starting our debt free journey at the end of Nov 2018! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 Honestly, if you had told us 5 months ago that we’d need to come up with $20,000 by today, I would have thought it was impossible!! Actually I probably would have cried. But it’s crazy what you can accomplish with a little focus, communication, and teamwork. 🤜🏻🤛🏽 To make things even more exciting, in that same time we have also increased our incomes, cash flowed about $9,000 in home repairs, and put about $8,000 in savings since we went into storm/stork mode at the end of February. 🤯
I don’t say any of this to brag, but lately hubby and I have been slipping a bit on the budget and feeling like we’re not making any progress.
But look at us, baby! We’re doing it!! 💏
Are you rich? Today our daughter had company and her friend asked, "are you guys rich? Why is your house so fancy? " I thought about the comment and was actually gonna laugh it off but instead I asked her, "why do you say that?" She says "look at your table ". She was referring to the table setting. (The one pictured is from the internet. Posting my own would scratch my anonymity. 😂). We keep our table set daily. Used for meals, but table setting goes back after each use. Back to the story. I say "well you know that being rich has nothing to do with having money right? " [insert embarrased face from my daughter as she knew it was lesson time]. I simply closed with "you can be rich in spirit and happiness and so in those regards, yes we are rich". With that I ask you my friends, are you rich? #richorpoor#debtfreedom#debtfreecommunity

#followfriday .... on Saturday again but eh..🤷♀️ you guys’ get this life and how unpredictable things can be
Retirement and residency.... don’t sound synonymous, but all that medical school, doesn’t teach or prepare your #medstudent to build retirement while simultaneously paying of student loans
You and your #residentdoctor are starting out behind our peers for retirement because of the years spent PAYING for education and training
So I started following @financialresidency a bit ago, and started listening to the podcast a few weeks ago
This #doctorspouse has taught me so much in the few weeks and podcasts I’ve listened to. You should definitely give this guy a follow if you’re wanting to educate yourself and your #doctor to become financially literate
While your spouse is in #residency you can attend your own financial residency through these podcast episodes
So tell me what are you most excited about after those giant loans are paid off?? Me... guilt free vacations 😎😎 #ipreview via @preview.app
Payments towards debt are done for April! Anything else that comes in this month will be put into savings because I’m noticing a slight slow down in work and want to make sure we pad the budget for summer. I decided to calculate how much interest is accumulating every day. This is about what I spend if I grab lunch out during the work day, and it’s something I was never taught in school. Compound interest, and understanding how it can work for or against you can be a really motivating way to start on your debt free journey if you’re new to this.
Airport selfie time 😁 taking my beautiful wifey @margaretfedorovsky to Epcooootttt (she’s been saying that for 2 months now)
I haven’t been much on social media lately, for the first time in a looooong time, as I’ve been going through some challenges around finally facing the mountain of debt that we built up. And this trip is a definite must, especially for me to reset my mind and focus on some fun times.
One word of advice - whatever challenges you’re going through keep your head up! You will get through it! It will get easier (even if you can’t believe that right now) and some day you’ll look back and see your challenges as the things that shaped you and made you into a better version of yourself.
This thought it what keeps me going. Focusing on my vision of where I’m going keeps me focused on solutions to the challenges vs succumbing to them, eating a tub of ice cream and going under the covers in a fetal position (although I can’t lie, there have been a few times recently when I wanted to do just that)
The fact that’s it’s challenging and not easy, is just the universe testing you. If you couldn’t handle this level of a challenge, it would not have been in your way.
You got this!
If you need a friendly chat, you can ALWAYS DM me. I find that chatting with someone (even if it’s someone you don’t know, and sometimes ESPECIALLY someone you don’t know)can help so much
Have an awesome weekend!! PS - what helped me get to this mindset? The amazing training from my coach @rayhigdon and his super duper group #rankmakers
Without him and the group I feel like I wouldn’t think this way about obstacles and would definitely feel more alone vs all the support that’s in that group.
There are so many benefits of being debt free but your financial goals shouldn't END with debt freedom.
You'll gain financial security and freedom to do what you enjoy.
You'll have fewer bills to pay and more income to direct towards other things. If you get a raise, guess what? That money now belongs to YOU and not a creditor.
The changes we made to our mindset, spending and priorities set us up for a better future and we're positive it can do the exact same for you!

I get asked all the time how to begin this debt free journey. This is as simple as it gets right here.
I also have lots of tips for paying down debt and getting started on my saved stories under Resources.
And, a free guide that explains all the steps my husband and I took to send $68K to debt last year alone. You can check that out by clicking the link in my profile and heading to Nine Proven Strategies to Pay Off Debt Fast.
Oh, and my favorite debt payoff strategies is the debt snowball. Find out all about how to pay off debt with that strategy by hitting up the blog.
If you haven’t begun aggressively paying off your debt, what’s stopping you?
