F student loans. Last one down 3 years early. #debtfree

My budget is tight this fortnight as due a virus and stress over workplace bullying I have taken four unpaid sick days. The only reason I’ve been able to take this time off is through careful budgeting (though it will still hurt me). I’ve been struggling with workplace bullying for the last ten months, but I have kept going to work as I don’t have the luxury of being unemployed and relying on someone else to pick up my slack. I’m paying off credit card debt, my student loan, and a mortgage on my own. Five weeks until I move to the other side of the world and away my toxic colleague!
Being able to freely choose someone with no strings attached on either side changes the entire game. When someone can completely take care of themselves, you know they’re not with you for money or service, and vice versa. Depending on each other is great. Being dependent on each other? Mmmm it’s not for me. I will always have my own money, be able to fix things myself, have a therapist and a strong social network, etc. That way if I do date someone I can date them for them and not for what I’m missing.
My meal plan last week kinda got thrown off due to me being sick 4 whole days. Fiancé stepped up and cooked dinner one of the nights and thankfully I already had corn dogs planned for another night. It was a crazy week. I hate being sick. The house is a mess. Glad to be better.
Friday and Saturday I’ll be preparing for my bridal shower so I’ll eat at my moms since I’ll be staying the night there and Saturday we’ll just eat left overs from the shower or whatever we can find laying around. I’m sure I’ll be too tired to cook. ESP if I end up going to work that night.

Dinner: zucchini slice, roasted sweet potato, peas and corn.
Quick Declutter 🧻
I find the bathroom drawers tend to become magnets for junk. I did a quick declutter this afternoon, swipe for the after! Chucked out some products I will never use, gave the drawer a quick clean and now it’s so much easier to see what we need and have right there to use.
Keeping it real - pasta is a staple here right now. My partner didn’t work for 4 weeks and money has been tight. Lucky he started a new job today ! But glamorous dinners are a long way off

What’s your honest opinion on this? 🤨
I think most people’s mindsets are completely backwards, when it comes to how they allocate both their time and money. Think about it, people are willing to spend thousands on a college degree and get themselves into debt, but are not willing to invest even half that into a business 👀
Now is the time to start generating WEALTH.

Today’s budget fail - realising I can’t reach the top cupboards even when standing on a chair. My fiancé is away and I have to pack our apartment on my own & of course he’s stored a bunch of things where I can’t reach them so I brought a step ladder 😂. While I hadn’t exactly planned on this expense, I figured with his work meaning he’s away a lot not being able to reach lights/cupboards etc is going to be an ongoing issue.
Budget talk: The beginning of the year hasn’t gone the way I expected but everyday I am learning something new and meeting the most wonderful woman (you girls know who you are 😉) I am motivated and we are moving forward, slowly but forward!
It is hard...twice in 3 days I’ve had “things” sitting in a cart for purchase...they are things that need replacing soon but it doesn’t need to be now...and both times I shut the page down 😁 Once upon a time I would have gone what the hell and bought it but I sat back and realised I have more important uses for our money!! I don’t use EXCUSES now, if I think it can be done then it will be done!
Only you can want to make a change, no one can do it for you.
So let’s say cheers to no more excuses 😘

I don’t know who the photo cred belongs to BUT I saw this is 💯💯 and I immediately connected with it. Mondays and I have never got along 😂😂 but in saying that it’s a day closer to being debt free and living our best life.
Hey guys. So I’ve seen this idea of saving coins in jar and think it’s fabulous BUT every time I have a crack at it I end up using the measly few dollars I’d saved. Any tips? Inspiring words? Success stories? I’d love to hear!
After actively looking for a month HE GOT A JOB !!! It’s $10k less than what he was on BUTTTTT - theres overtime pay; can work weekends if he wants + RDOs he can work and get extra $$ which will give him more $$ or just have them off and hang with us. New change of career and something different for him !! • •
Next thing is MIL is calling me about jobs !!! Don’t get me wrong thanks for the offer but I’ve budgeted to have time off + babies only 7 WEEKS OLD !!! Im not ready to go back to work anytime soon and let alone full time (she’s hoping to get a work package and become babies babysitter to save us money) lord give me strength. 🤞🏻She knows we don’t need to stress about me going to work anytime soon and I have mentioned multiple times I won’t even look for anything until tax time at least 🤦🏻♀️ #ozdebtfreecommunity#ozdebtfreejourney#gotthejob#employed
Even with a plan of how your going to turn things around and hit/achieve that goal you have in mind, things may not always be going as smoothly as you had planned.
If things are not working out, you are allowed to STOP/PAUSE, RE-EVALUATE, ADJUST and CONTINUE. You may even find that you need to start over! And again, this is allowed!
The most important thing is the end goal and the fact that you reach there, it may take longer than you had hoped and planned but as long as you make it in the end, thats a win to me!
How are your new year goals going?

Ever since I graduated from my masters I’ve had this feeling like a cloud is looming over me and my financial journey. This cloud is my HECS/FEE-HELP debt. But thanks to @mymillennialmoney there recent podcast on HECS/FEE-HELP cleared up so many questions I had! Thank you, thank you, thank you. If you’re in the same boat as I was, give them a follow and listen to the podcast ☺️✌🏼
Received an email a few days ago stating that the landlord has decided to raise the rent, this is despite issues still not being fixed and prices dropping in the area. Just what you want to hear! So after a discussion we’ve decided to not only move but move further out to reduce our costs. It’s time to make a change! If we do it right this will mean thousands towards our house deposit which is exciting!
Will keep you up to date here about what effect that has on our saving efforts and also what I’m currently dubbing ‘the purge’ 😂 The house is good but there are some tubs in the garage I’ve been meaning to get around to going through to sell, donate and throw away. Looks like I’m now doing this urgently!
I’m hoping what was initially a shock and some stress is going to turn into something that works out better for us in the long run.

ONE OF THE COOLEST COUPLES ON SOCIAL MEDIA! This is motivating... this is strange... this is F R E E D O M. They are PAYING OFF THE HOUSE 👀. This is #BlackExcellence. #BlackHistoryMonth#Repost@nodebt4us
With a big debt of $300k left to pay on our 🏠 we had no choice but to create a big debt payoff chart. My wife and I are very visual so this is exactly what we need to keep us on track with our goal. We plan to have this goal accomplished in 5-6 years tops, screw that make it 5 years (speak it into existence). So with that being said wish us luck down this debt free road to having a paid for home 🏡. #debtfreecommunity#debtfreejourney#debtfree#debtfreeliving#blackboyjoy
Proud of you two. Amazing work. 💪
Yaaaaaaaayyyyysssss!!!!! FREEDOM! Y'all, this is one of the BEST feelings ever! Thank you so much @daveramsey for the guidance & to the Dave Ramsey tribe for the encouragement! If you have debt or if you need to learn how to get control of your finances, pleeeease look up Dave & his Total Money Makeover! It's LIFE CHANGING!! Over the last 2 years we've welcomed a beautiful baby boy, I was admitted to the hospital multiple times for the blood clots in my brain and a stroke with multiple medical bills rolling in, Josh's hand surgery, our baby boy's minor ear surgery, and yet we were still able to stick to our budget and get rid of our debilitating debt. There's always going to be a reason in the back of your mind of why you can't accomplish your goals or why it may not seem realistic. Remain positive, encourage your partner (working as a team is one of the most important things!), stick to your budget, believe in yourself, and you can get here too.

People who climb giant mountains know this. Yes, the ultimate goal is the summit, but their daily focus is just to get to the next checkpoint.
This is why I loved using charts. Each debt had it's own chart and I could see my progress, knock out that goal, and then was totally ready to say "okay, who's next?" to my debts.
It's empowering. It's motivating. Yes, it's even a little cheesy. But hey! It works!
