⭕️ Yayoi Kusama crafts ⭕️- We’ve has a lot of fun this month completing our @alovelylittleartroom inaugural subscription box. We love their boxes, they are so bright and colourful and bring joy in the post every time we order one! There were 4 projects in the box.
1. Making a model installation using plaster of Paris, white paint, spots and the box
2. Making a clay pumpkin with jewelled spots
3. A Yayoi Kusama collage using print outs of her, her work and a transparency to add spots with stickers and pen
3. Draw your own copy of her work. As Teddy would never be able to do this, we decided (inspired by the spotty eye and replicated head) to make a spotty mummy, daddy and Teddy hands. Also used our own sequins.
What did we think? Well, generally we LOVED the box. It brought us a lot of fun! But, I think I’d have liked to have seen a bit more “stuff” for £20. I’d also like to have the projects bundled like previous boxes so that you can just grab and go. And also a bit more information on the artist. I felt that it was a bit inconvenient that the first project used the box because then we had nowhere to store the things for the other three projects. And, maybe some colouring in for project 4 to make it accessible to the very young or artistically incapable. .
But these really are just minor aspects of the box that I feel could be improved and I’m not all the opinions and it was only the first box and clearly a lot of work had gone into it.
We’re really looking forward to seeing what February’s box brings!.
(Teddy wears her new art apron. It’s actually Italian school uniform, a grembiule. We bought the smallest size we could find for her while we were on our honeymoon in Puglia and now it fits. Time flies!!).

He'll grow into it.
The birthday boy never showed any particular interest in space before we visited the Space Centre yesterday. It was selected because it was somewhere that was open in January and not weather-dependent. But the rocket we bought him from the gift shop had to sit by his bed last night and today it has been employed to play astronauts, so maybe we've sparked something. I love it when they discover new things. 🌌
🤖 Robots Week 🤖 .
Yay, we finally made it to The Lookout Discovery Centre! I’ve had it on our list for ages and it didn’t disappoint. I feel like we didn’t even explore half of it, so plenty to go back for another time! 😍 .
We went today as they were holding a Robot themed toddler day aimed at preschoolers. So there was a story & song session 🎤📚 plus loads of crafting stuff 🖍✂️🎨 .
M&M could have spent ages at the ball drop puzzle thing 🌟 I wanted to get involved in the Batak! 🌟 How cute are the Scribble Bots! So easy to do 🌟 Do you love how Molly’s robot is fully purple 💜 and it matches her dress - all her own choice 🌟 I had to drag them both away from the construction building site 🚧those diggers & trucks 🌟 wow, the light & sound room - just so much hands-on exploring to be done!! .
Today I promised Oliver that we would have a little treat after he got home from the childminders and that treat was to visit the new @littlestreetroleplay which has opened in Rudgwick!
I’m so pleased there’s now one 5 minutes down the road, we’ve visited the others but they’re just a bit too far to go regularly! Oliver loved it and cried when I told him it was time to go home 🙈 I’m sure we will be back there again very soon!
⭐️Even more Dino fun from us as we get excited for Dippy & Trix!
⭐️Today we headed to the Fossil Grove which you can find hidden by trees in Victoria Park 🌳 (it’s signposted, don’t worry😊) On this site, 350million year old fossils were discovered!
⭐️We were lucky enough to get a sneak peak today and were told that there will be lots of Dino activities for little Gs that will run on the weekends.
⭐️The indoor part won’t be open til spring (hurry up springtime!) Til then, the outdoor groves make for a v pretty walk, especially on beautiful days like today if you’re heading to the park❄️

Little adventures with the family 💕
Walking has really allowed us to spend quality time as a family, Joshua loves the maps and discovering our best route, Mia likes the scenery, Elsie hates it 😂
Except for Joshua losing his shoes in the mud and walking an extra 3 miles out of our way, we had an amazing time on our first 'proper' walk.
Anyone else walk with their kids? Would love to discover new places....
⭐️Are your little ones as Dino daft as mine? Glasgow is about to become the place to be for Dino spotting 🔍
🦕First up is Dippy the Diplodocus who arrives at Kelvingrove Art Gallery on Tuesday
🦖Then we’re gonna be visited by Trix the T-Rex who’s stomping into the Kelvin Hall for the Scottish leg of its European tour this spring
⭐️Pretty much the rock stars of the jurassic world..😎

Today my little man turned 4 😮. We've had the day off work and nursery, been to the Space Centre, out for pizza and ice-cream and then back home to get through another mountain of presents. Who says January birthdays are the worst?! It's been a lovely day. 🎂
Don't forget that Junior Farm is open weekends only and closes at 4pm throughout January so we can carry out essential maintenance to ensure that all our animals and visitors stay happy and safe. Warsaw’s Old Town is the finest and most picturesque part of the city. During II World War, Old Warsaw and the Royal Castle were totally destroyed (there was only one standing building left). As Polish, I’m always so proud how residents of Warsaw set about rebuilding the centre of Warsaw exactly as it had looked before the war. They went to extraordinary lengths, studying 18th-century views by Canaletto and Marcello Bacciarelli, and even travelling to Blenheim Palace to copy the great door lock, which was known to be a duplicate of the one at the Royal Castle. Every time we are back here, I’m always amazed by this place. Every town house is so colourful, beautiful and feels full of history. Today it was particularly special as Lily asked plenty of questions about this place. I tried to explain her some facts (not sure how much she got it for3 yrs old), but I want my kids to know Polish history.

Happy New Year my friends! There is a superstition in Poland that the way you spend the 1st day of January, is the way you spend the whole rest of the year. Obviously we couldn’t ignore this fact, so we had to make sure we went out on the adventure. The sky was pretty spectacular today, on one side there was beautiful sun shining on us, on other the sky looked black and very dramatic. ..⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Apparently there are many 1st January superstitions around the world which include putting your money under the carpet, waving bad luck goodbye, eating 12 grapes at midnight or even scattering coins in every room when the clock ticks midnight. ..⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Any superstitions in your country? Or is there any tradition you have as a family to do on 1st January?
