We hope everyone had a great time at @dgalysbeach this weekend! Love seeing @alysbeachfl all in color and so many people enjoying the architecture we've been honored to help create, such as @calizarestaurant!
As we head into the warm months of summer, an annual inspection to see how your home withstood the harsh winter conditions is something any homeowner should do. Check the garage, the porch and most importantly your house. If your siding has seen better days… And if painting it will only be a short term cover-up… …then you should consider replacing your homes protective layer (your siding) because we all know that siding is more than just a pretty winter coat.
This is what #committed#innovative problem-solving looks like in woodwork manufacturing. We have been working with the Workforce Intelligence Network, sister millwork shops, the Department of Labor and @schoolcraftnow Manufacturing Program, with support of the Michigan Manufacturers Association, on a 21st C apprenticeship for small/medium sized millwork manufacturers. This pioneering competency based apprenticeship, when approved will combine #cnc#mechatronics , #drafting , millwork techniques/building/fabrication, estimating & project management. Some people said we were crazy trying and it couldn’t be done, to create an apprenticeship for the United States of America that tries to solve our industry’s workforce dilemma but that just made us more committed to being #changemakers . If you’re interested in learning more, we”d love to talk to you. Who’s with us? #keepcraftalive
Of the countless things I learned while at @nbss over a decade ago, there's a few little go-to techniques that stand out to me like this one for gluing miters: a perfect solution to a tricky clamping situation especially where you don't want visible fasteners like a screw to draw it tight. Simply glue some triangular pine blocks to the workpiece and chisel them off later. I still remember the moment I saw it for the first time and thought, "duh!, how simple!" It came in handy for this handrail fitting. There is also a large dowel in the joint but this closed it up real tight.
We’re moving closer to production on our soon to be renamed Williamsburg hotel project. This is one view within the lobby. A combination of Cnc cut cement panels, lasercut brass, brass tubing & lighting will work together to create an upside down aquatic inspired landscape. TLDR - there will be Drama.
Wood actually improves with age (unlike any of the synthetic materials that are being used today). In this home, white-washed timbers, steel doors, herringbone patterned floor, and a plank ceiling created a timeless look that will only get better as time goes on. .
