Wondering how to avoid social media burnout? We have the answer, and it may not be what you expect.
Take. A. Break. Put your phone down when you start to feel tired of the Internet. Log off and spend time outside if it all starts to get to you. Make "Do Not Disturb" your best friend.
We know that you're thinking about the algorithm ＋ what it'll do for your brand if you step back and recharge — but you know what's bad for business? Creating content when you feel uninspired and exhausted.
Go grab a latte with a friend. Spend time outside. Pick up a book. This app will still be here when you get back, and you'll feel WAY refreshed ＋ energized.
How do YOU avoid burnout?
The grand prize winner for our challenge will be revealed in just a few hours! Make sure to get those last minutes entries in!
I also want to apologize to all who entered, as I haven’t been very active this week and haven’t commented on your beautiful creations. My entire family has been down for the count for nearly 2 weeks now. Poor Sproutie has a double ear infection, wifey has one too and I got socked with laryngitis and bronchitis. It’s been quite rough in our household. But thankfully, we are all recovering and on the mend.
Pictures above are the amazing prizes for the winner! We have a huge heart shaped petri from @kikicustomart , an amazing set of Princeton Select brushes from @scribinggrace , a set of three handpainted magnets (using @thesproutcreative paints) from @ariane_hope_ , a set of original stickers and washi tape from @oeewrites and a half pan set of the Winter Wonderland Collection! Thank you all for entering. I’m off now to look at all the entries and prep for the drawing! ❤️❤️

Yesterday’s peonies. ✨ (Time lapse on my last post!)
First day of my personal mark making journey. I’ve been intrigued by this process and when researching it I found a quote from Edward Burke saying “each persons marks... are the foundation of a mark making language that can become an individual language of expression of ‘self’ in drawing and painting.” According to Burke each persons marks are innate and from childhood, deep in our muscle memory. We should embrace our unique marks and expand upon them.
I’m going into this new year open to where my art leads me. Recently I’ve been feeling bogged down with too much thinking and my intention is to set myself free to explore and play and not worry about the outcome so much.
I’m sending out the love to all you artists out there who create fearlessly everyday. I am so grateful to this Instagram artistic community. .
I just got back from @theartfuleweportgamble and... OMG 😍 I am so excited about this new selection of yarn and hand died wool. I literally can’t wait to see what I’m going to create with it ✨🧡➿🙌
Thank you Heidi!! 🤗

I’m in love with my slow shutter cam app! This is a picture of a picture, that I was able to turn into art work with my app. I would’ve liked it a little more blurred, but overall I think it’s pretty cool! More to come. :)

Honestly blown away by the magic that was created last weekend 😍💞. Melissa from @mellybeauty.mua reached out a few months ago asking to do a collaboration and I can't stop scrolling through all of the images from our shoot! The best part?? They're all LIVE on my blog! Head to the link in my profile for more of this goodnesssss! 👆🏻🤩✨
I have had this sketchbook for a year now & I’ve only done one drawing in it. So I’m starting on a project specifically to fill it up with drawings of plants, without requiring a perfect end result. I’ve already felt major relief in letting go & just drawing rather than trying to create a masterpiece.

Hey all! I've never done a Friday introduction and I'll admit it gives me a bit of anxiety! You may have also noticed my Instagram handle has changed! (Formerly @jillylearnstowrite) I wanted a new handle to reflect me further in my artistic journey (though I'm aaaallllllllways learning). Living on a farm my whole life, I feel like the farm life is part of my identity, hence the change in handle. .
So...a couple facts about me...
1. I'm a mom of two toddlers 2 and 4. They are amazing. I never really yearned to be mother growing up, but it's the best decision I've ever made. .
2. My 40th birthday will be this year (September) and I have 0 anxiety about it. I had more anxiety about turning 30.
3. I work as an environmental scientist for an engineering consulting firm. Basically, I help clients (and our own engineer) make sure they are following all the environmental procedures and laws. I write environmental documents, permit applications, reports...but I also get to do cool field surveys sometimes. It's a stressful job at times but I love it. .
Thanks for following along here. 😎
Hi there! I'm Jenn, owner and photographer of this little world I like to call Jennifer Nicole Photography. Since its #followfriday#fridayintroductions and I haven't done one in a while I figured why not?! .
I shoot weddings and lifestyle portraits and specialize in natural light photography. I'd consider my style bright, bold and vibrant with lots of emphasis on color. The world is filled with beautiful color and I think it's only fair to document it true to it's own color. I was a finalist in the 2018 Winter Springs/Oviedo Ovations which is a fan based poll award so I'm pretty proud of that accomplishment in my first "real" year. 💁🏼♀️
One of the best decisions I ever made, I was a 16 year sophomore in high school and that was to date the love of my life! Together we have conquered so many mountains and swam through so many valleys and I consider myself lucky to know him and love him. 11 years later we are still going strong and have also added a rescue dog to our lives. Her name is Bailey (or Bayle as we call her) and she's an American Foxhound. She was previously abused but with lots of love, patience and training she has become a special part of our little family. We've had her almost 2 years!! I can't believe it! Always adopt, don't shop! .
Well that's a small summary of me, drop a comment below and introduce yourself! 📷@lbalagtasphotography
January, though your days are short and cold your bright sunlight is SO welcome ☀️☀️☀️
Rob’s currently installing a new cat flap, (Friday night goals, right?) and I’m prepping the lounge for a certain special one’s 11th birthday tomorrow 👏🏼⭐️🎈
We seem to like to do our birthdays in January or August over here, and there are no exceptions! -
But we’ve grown to love the early year birthdays, they brighten up a difficult month for us and fill it with a bit of ✨ and some much needed 🌈 -
Happy Friday everyone ❣️

I took a little time off of embroidery today to try a different kind of crafting - courtesy of @thecraftersbox !
The February box partners up with @nicole.sweeney_ and teaches you about geometric pattern play using wooden cutouts. I chose to create an all white piece to photograph my embroideries on, but your kit will come with wood stain and varnish to make your own patterns! Swipe over and check out the video to see some more ideas!
You have until the 20th to sign up for this box! You can sign up for this box through The Crafters Box website. | video from: @thecraftersbox |
There is no elevator, take the stairs!
There is no way to succeed if you look for shortcuts. Even if you find one, because you skipped some important steps in your path you will lose because of those steps.
I know no really successful person that never went thru the grind.
Actually everything is about that. The hustle, the daily hustle is what made them powerful, because by overcoming obstacles you will grow in all aspect of life.
Nowadays the payment, the money you receive is not a indicator of hard work but of intelligent and continuous work.
😂People say the hate capitalism?
Well i love it, why? Because capitalism gives you the opportunity to work in ways and fashions you never imagined, to have contact and partners in places you never thought it is possible and to build businesses that were never invented.
You just need to take the stairs because your opportunity is there, in climbing.
For some people the biggest ideas come from places they never thought about.
Stop trying to find shortcuts, embrace the pain, love the grind, respect the sacrifice and be humble in success and give back.
But remember, no successful person will give you his fish but he will always each you how to fish.
What? To work for free for someone else?
Well what is the alternative?
To pick up crumbles your entire life?
Or you sacrifice the NOW and tomorrow you will be the one eating the bread?
“Think and grow rich”
Did you know that self belief and confidence comes from the following; .
Positive Relationships / friendships
It really is that simple, now when you look at this list you will know that you have the power to change each of these.
"Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent." (including yourself) Eleanor Roosevelt
Barefoot and messy. Two of my favorite things in the world!
One of my new year promises to myself is to reconnect more with nature. I always loved to walk barefoot: in the park, in the snow, in the rain, on the beach, on the streets... I've walked barefoot whenever I got the chance.
But lately I haven't done that much, maybe I grew up, maybe too many people called it crazy.
I need to consciously bring it back into my life now, because I'm in a point in my life where I don't really care if people think what I do is crazy or not.
What's your crazy thing?
and that’s not always a bad thing. ✨// January has hit me like a weird ton of bricks and I find myself exhausted, sitting amidst piles of work I didn’t know I had. Feeling sort of out of sorts but also excited about everything that’s happening. And reminding myself that I don’t have to say ‘yes’ to every email offer or available opportunity.
When I was just starting out this whole Instagram/lettering thing, I had to hunt like crazy for work (newb status) and *practically* beg people to let me letter for them. And I would dream of the day when the work would just come find me and I could leisurely scroll through my inbox and create beautiful things for my ideal clients. I thought that would mean that I had ‘arrived’ and that everything from then on would be smooth sailing. News flash: that’s not what happened. 😂 I’m at the point now where my inbox is full of awesome creative projects and I want to do them ALL. But the practical side of my brain is just wagging its finger at me while the optimist side of my brain is screaming and running around in circles with hearts in her eyes.
Because I know I can’t do it all, even thought I WANT TO and sometimes feel a little guilty about not being able to. And that’s not a bad thing. Because if you do too much, your overall work suffers, not to mention your mental health. 😬🙈 It’s far, far better to do less things with 100% of your effort than 100% of the things with less of your effort. Less really can be more, my darlings.
So if you’re feeling a little buried and scattered, just remember to take care of yourself. And sometimes that means taking on less work, so that you can do better work and feel better. And don’t worry, I’ll be doing the same:) In fact, I think it’s a really good night for some pizza + Netflix + not-working-while-I-watch. Gotta take my own advice, right? 😉💙 I hope you have a lovely Thursday evening, my friends!

Good things happen to babes who hustle 💪🏻
As many of you know, this year I challenged myself to make one piece of lettering everyday to help me improve my skills and my style. I finally feel like I’m starting to get in the groove of creating and I am becoming more and more confident with posting my work. Thank you for the support and all the nice comments! Here’s to a year of hustling and creating!
