Tomorrow being Anthony Bourdain’s Birthday, and this week being ‘Negroni Week’ the timing seems perfect. The Negroni was Mr. Bourdain’s favorite cocktail. So for tonight’s ‘Off the Cuff’ the decision was simple. Cochineal infused Gin, Wormwood infused Campari, and Juniper infused Italian Vermouth. We know the jigger. We love the jigger. We love to watch as bartenders pour quantities of alcohol into the jigger, flip it, and pour more.
The stainless steel measure in @a_suarez16’s hand is called the jigger. Since most cocktails call for quantities by the ounce, jiggers are a useful and efficient way for a bartender to make sure the drink you’re getting has the right amount of booze without the need for a measuring cup.
Where did this little contraption get its name? One explanation attributes the name to sailors in the British navy who nicknamed their daily ration of booze after the “jiggermast” sails on their ships.

Negroni Week is upon us! Are you ready?? Kicking it off with a new Negroni variation: Roasted Strawberry Rose Negroni! Strawberries go so well in a Negroni. Roasting the 🍓 brings out complexity that weaves through out the commanding ingredients in this classic cocktail. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For the gin I used @unclevals Restorative gin. It’s made with the usual suspects juniper & coriander, but then has rose petals & cucumber added for a floral, but fresh note. Muddle roasted strawberries in a shaker or jar with all ingredients. Strain through a fine mesh strainer into a mixing glass with ice. Stir for 30 seconds. Strain into glass with ice. 🍓1/8-1/4 cup sugar ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees. In a baking dish, add sliced strawberries & sprinkle with sugar to lightly coat. Roast for 20 minutes. Let cool before using & store in the fridge for 3 days. #negroniweek#unclevals#sponsored

Coincidentally all Rutkin girls were in town. What fun to celebrate Lana’s birthday at this world renown venue! We had the greatest afternoon!

It’s Negroni Week! 😁♥️
I’ve got a few Negroni variations to share this week and at work we are donating $2 from every Negroni and Negroni variation to our local downtown shelter.
First up is
1.25 Campari, 1 London Dry Gin, .25 Peychauds Bitters, .25 Angostura Bitters, .25 Simple Syrup (1-1)
Stirred, with a Lemon Peel.
There’s a lot of flavor in this serve but it all blends together in harmony. I’m a huge fan of using bitters in more than just dashes. 😁
Morty and Amaro both give The Bitteroni two paws up (each) and have already requested a second serve. 😺😸
Can’t wait to Negroni it all up, all week for everyone! 🥃😁🤙🏼
It’s Negroni week! I heard a rumour that coconut 🥥 pairs well with Campari.
1 oz coconut rum
1 oz Campari
1 oz sweet vermouth
Stir all ingredients on ice and strain into glass. Garnish with dried coconut 🥥 flakes.
Turns out the rumours are true! Subbing the coconut rum (I used @kokokanu_uk - another bottle made by the Campari crew) for the gin is a wonderful thing, softening the drink 🤗 and adding that little touch of coconut 🥥 paradise 🏝 to the otherwise fairly bitter drink. This was a delicious little tipple and a perfect way to kick off Negroni Week. Cheers!
