I haven’t had the one of these since my old man took me to @2brothersbrewery in Moorabbin back in 2008. At the time I think they only had 4 odd beers on tap including Taxi, Growler and my favourite, The Grizz - 5.7%.
Pours a clear amber with a medium sized beige coloured head.
The nose offers burnt toffee, toast, orange and grapefruit rind, earthy hops and pine resin.
A treacly, caramel malt backbone with sweet toffee and bready flavours on the front palate followed by a solid citrus and resinous hop bitterness to balance it with a smooth, bitter and spicy finish.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation and a syrupy mouthfeel. A timeless, sessionable Amber Ale.

Such a great time when we roll in here and shared with great people.
Offertory by @holymtnbrewing
A bit tart, a bit sweet with notes of Riesling and white grape juice if it were casked...
Other beers were the Gray Tower (b4) and Coffee/Vanilla Shadowlifter as well as Spirit Crusher (not pictured)
Finback - Replenish - 6% IPA - This looks like pure unadulterated hop milk. Pineapple juice too. This is a piney and dank little fella. It looks a whole lot thicker and better than it tastes, it's got a real bitter side like a psychotic ex but really the flavour is mostly a lot of the aroma and then not much else, sort of watery, gets a bit much towards the end half too with the hop burn sitting heavy on my chest. Probably my least favourite Finback I've had yet. #finback#ipa#hopmilk
From one Brute to another; this time it’s @dainton.beer, the near neighbours of @mrbanksbeer (our previous post). Enjoyed in fine, humid conditions on a freshly laid #sirwalter pitch. This popular new style is particularly well suited to the summer months with its fruity yet dry finish, and a hard to believe 6.9%. If you ask which Brute took the points we couldn’t tell ya, as Pete tried Mr Banks and Chuck this tasty Dainton. But as that lady from that classic Seinfeld episode once declared “You’re all winners!” 🏆👏🏼
Now on tap @thebrewerstaproom, tapped by your truly! A fresh pin of @newenglishbrewing “Hop Slap’d”. This beer is a refreshing American Pale Ale and it is tasting insane out of the cask. Swing by and give it a try! #CaskAle
Bock - when somebody said BOCK BEER, the 1st image in our mind sure is the billy goat and why? The story begin during the 17century and the beers from the northern town of Einbeck gradually moved south to the city of Munich,Due to subtle language differences between the north and south of Germany, the pronunciation of the beer from Einbeck was misconstrued by the Bavarians to sounds like “ein bock,” which means “billy goat” in German. The name stuck, as did the image of a billy goat, which still adorns bock labels to this day.Bock is a bottom fermenting lager but stronger than a typical lager, bock is dark amber in color with robust malt flavors and very light hoppiness and has a very smooth mouthfeel and low carbonation, sometimes with a bit of caramel taste.Bock is a excellent pairing with mature cheese, stewed fruit, mash and fried or roasted meats.
Dolly Aldrin - 3.3% - @yullisbrews
Dolly Aldrin is not someone to be messed with. As the poem on the side of the can suggests “She’s surly, She’s burly, She ain't no Liz Hurly”. A low percentage Berliner Weisser, sour with a honeydew influence at the end. This sour has a lacto fermentation process which means ‘Lacto’ eats up sugars and rather than converting to alcohol, it converts to lactic acid which in turn lowers the pH of the beer giving it to sour element. I love brewing science! This sour has a dry/sour focus upfront which I really liked. Some sours just give you the tarty flavour at the end but this hits you straight away. The honeydew melons are a key element and combining with the sour flavour at the end, brings this beer to life. The sweetness of the honeydew is apparent from start to finish. I found this beer quite refreshing which isn’t something I normally align with sour beers. The characters on Yullis cans are fun and stay tuned for a couple more coming up in the following weeks #waterstobeers
Two IPA's, same brewery in a row.
Lost Sailor IPA - brewed by Berkshire Brewing Company Inc. (5.8%) is a medium bodied with medium carbonation beer. There are notes of malt and citrus on the paladar with a slightly bitterness at the end.
Overall, this is a pretty good IPA to have during fall!
