Here is my progression and painting process for this study, swipe for my phases of the glazing process. Burnt umber, liquin fine detail for the underpainting. My transparent flesh recipe mixed with transparent white for the first skin layer. Carmine with trans white or titanium white for pinks of the eye depending on desired depth, trans for deeper part, titanium for nearest parts. The is sap green and yellow green ural. The white of the eye is in 3 parts. The left side is a mixture of natural burnt umber, caput mortuum, and dove grey. The lower blue is blue grey no. 2 and ultramarine deep and titanium white. The right side is a greater concentration of caput mortuum mixture and my trans flesh recipe. To get the desired transparency of some parts of the skin, I had to cover up some areas with titanium white for opacity, then glaze burnt umber on them again and then glaze my transparent flesh mixture. Next time, I think it would be best to paint the eyelashes in the underpainting phase and to not paint them singularly but with more of an impressionistic grouping.
The definition for energy is 'invisible moving forces that influence the physical world'.
The definition of spirit is the same . So Quantum Physics is giving what spiritual people knew - science says 'field' , others say 'spirit'. If energy is real , then spirit is real...Reposting one of my favourites #art#abstractart#oilpainting
💫💫💫😊Today I was blessed beyond measure. To see people connect with my art is a feeling I will never be able to explain adequately. But wait! To have people invest their hard earned money in my art is beyond words!! I have so much happiness to share and I want to spread it out and relish in it as long as possible. So we will start here-with this couple who took the time to really see my art and what it might have to say to them.

Through the use of wit and humor, Damián Ortega deconstructs familiar objects and processes altering their functions and transforming them into novel experiences and scenarios. Ortega’s work plays with a scale that ranges from the molecular to the cosmic, applying the concepts of physics to human interactions where chaos, accidents, and instability produce a system of relations in flux. Inverting and dissecting, reconfiguring and zooming in, he explores the tension that underlies every object and the infinite world inside them. The result of his inquiries reveals the interdependence of diverse components, be it within a complex engineered machine or a social system. Although his projects –which he envisions through drawing– take form in sculpture, installation, performance, film, and photography, for Ortega the work of art is always an action: an event. His experiments inhabit a space where possibility and everydayness converge to activate a transcendent new way of looking at simple objects and routine interactions.
Winter light ... happy Sunday everyone! I’m having my (first of several) family Christmases with @bekahsplaine and @rollins4da and @peyton_.19 because family is both the family you are born with and the family you create. I hope everyone is preparing for a loving and supportive and peaceful holiday. And if this time of year is difficult or stressful please know you are not alone. Use art as a refuge. #christmas#winter#art
