Educating myself about the current state of plastic in our Worlds by watching a film called ‘A Plastic Ocean’ The Oceans feel the brunt of it... 🐟
As a little girl I grew up by the, then near pristine, Indian Ocean.. I could swim before I could run and I identify as a Mermaid...
As a Woman with a deep connection to the Sea it was frankly almost too much to watch it... but I refuse to bury my head in the sand. 🐠
Simply put, we can’t escape the ramifications of plastics. The toxic chemicals released by degrading plastics sequester into the fats of all animals (especially anything from the Ocean). When we eat these they disrupt our hormonal systems... hence the massive rates of infertility, the first obvious repercussion of this.. there are hundreds more, all affecting ecosystems in ever more intricate and irreversible ways.
As a woman with a love for large marine creatures and a desire to one day have my own children... I’m more than a little disturbed. 🐋
Remembering I can make my contribution by either not using or reusing plastic items. This is something that can be easily forgotten in the day to day. Also going to make more effort to ask restaurants and cafes to provide plastic alternatives and incentives to bring in reusable containers, to recycle everything I can.
Feeling guilty I forgot... allowed myself to relax my attitude to this incredibly pressing issue. I have been unconscious... but I can remember. Every day, to take more care in my plastic use. Inviting you to too.

Prisoner 421 - Terminhayter - One of the worst convicts to ever be housed in Port Arthur. Sentenced in 1815 for 20 years maximum security for stealing a ham in England. “It was a really good ham though”, she was quoted after her sentence had been carried out in its entirety. She was also the best bowler on the prison cricket team. .
Blue-Spotted Ribbontail Ray's are very active at night, where they are often seen scanning the sand for their prey. During the day however, they rest underneath rocks, hidden away while they wait for night to fall.

Meet RITA. This little girl was rescued after we found her in a cold dark room, just abandoned for quite some time. She had lost all her pink, but was so small and way over a few months old but still looked so fragile when she first arrived. She hated the dark (since being locked up in a dark room for sometime). She had such sad eyes .... All she wanted was her food and would lip smack it because that's how she found her comfort. She would constantly cry and cry. But since she has gotten a lot of love that has lessened.
Now, Rita has been at Co'Lu'Bi for almost 2 months. She is as happy as ever, she bubbles and laughs and runs around. She found new friends (Coco and Lulu) that have accepted her into their troop. She's not afraid of the dark anymore, she cries less and she still loves her food 😄
This little girl has so much love in her that all she wants to do is give it back, but most humans abuse that.
You can take something so broken like Rita and help and love her to the best you can. And slowly but surely you start to see a big change. LOVE IS THE ANSWER in situations like these. And make no mistake any animal knows that.

Define yourself by what you love. We have a tendency to define ourselves in opposition to stuff. People's idea of being part of a subculture that hate things like feminism, homosexuality, green party, etc. Try to express your passions for things you love. Be demonstrative and generous for things you admire. Be Pro stuff not just anti-stuff. I'm late in acknowledging this beautiful human as I just found out he passed away last year. Rob (a Canadian film maker) was an advocate and a conservationist. He helped pass global government legislation to help protect sharks and banning of shark fin export and importation's. The world needs more Rob's and I hope that his efforts continue to evolve as we near so many important ecological extinctions. I will do my part to continue his hard work and passions. Some facts about sharks: 100 million sharks are killed per year. Shark meat has been found in the following items: pet foods, salmon/tuna cans, beauty cosmetics and fast food fish to name a few. Sharks contain high amounts of mercury which are harmful to humans. Sharks play an important role in marine ecology which in turn play a msssive role in human survival as it affects our oceans. We're down to the final days to add your name before governments meet to decide if an Antarctic Ocean sanctuary will be created.

The New Zealand Government own the compound 1080 poison factory which drops a World Health Organisation 1A Ecotoxin into our native bush and waterways by helicopter. This is an indiscriminate poison with no antidote!!! Our beautiful falcons are at risk, they are eating poisoned rats etc which is effecting their fertility and they are laying infertile eggs. The damage we are doing to our native birds and wildlife by dropping 1080 is immeasurable, we are pushing all our native birds towards extinction leading with the Kea. This madness needs to stop! Tamaiti and Tuhoe have never allowed 1080 poison to be dropped, they have the healthiest forests and prolific bird life. Private enterprises trap the area and make money from the possum at approx $130.00 a possum between trapping and fur, this is sustainable, creates employment and harvests the possums but the government miss out on selling their poison. This is why there is so much resistance to ban 1080 as nowhere else in the world has the government owned the poison factory. They have increased the drops by 8 times they want to drop the most they ever have this spring. They have reduced buffer/safe zones from 200 metres to 50 metres. Over the last few years Nick Smith and government have quietly changed our laws to suit their purpose. You could contests the drops 3 ways including at local government level, the New Zealand laws have now been changed so you can only contest drops at the high court or through Iwi. The rainforest is slowing disintegrating,
Getting chopped down for our needs,
And whilst we are all debating,
We need to plant more seeds. .
So when we cut down the trees,
We should help the animals around,
What you need to plant is an extra three,
For when that tree hits the ground. .
They help us with medicines, when we are ill,
However we still chop them to the ground,
Think about all those poor creatures we kill,
Petrifying them with the sound. .
Provide homes for people that live there,
Or make things around the house,
From tables to even the kitchen chair,
But this can kill cats to even a mouse. .
And there are many things that we can do,
Not just sit there and let it materialize,
We CAN save those animals to,
And to the World we have to open our eyes. .
The rainforest is slowing disintegrating,
Getting chopped down for ALL our needs,
And whilst we are all debating,
We Have To Stop These Bad Deeds. .

Что мы можем сделать, для сохранения (окружающей среды) природы на земле матушке?
• Не мусори, а также сортируй бытовой мусор;

Happy Alaska Day my friends and Happy Friday....two amazing days rolled into one! In this shot a beautiful Bald Eagle glides gracefully through the Alaskan sky with the state ferry in the background just outside of Auke Harbor near Juneau. If you follow my work then you already know my favorite state is Alaska. The wildlife, the harsh, untamed landscapes filled with glaciers, cascading waterfalls, kaleidoscopic flora, vast wilderness, snow covered peaks and amazing people make up a state that truly is our Last Frontier. Each year I return here, it’s photographic opportunities are but one reason, from the moment I step off the plane, the crisp Alaskan air filling my lungs, to the moment I leave, a smile fills my face and beautiful images fill my memory cards. Alaska’s as beautiful above water as it is below and if you have never dived this amazing state, well then you should. Have an amazing day my friends and know that when you see me here there’s no other place on earth I’d rather be. It’s Friday, make it an incredible weekend that’s epic and in the service of this amazing planet we all call home. @discovery#alaska#canon#eagles#ocean#wildlife#wildlifephotography#thelastfrontier#natgeo#travel#bbcearth#yesbbcearth#canon_photos#true#friday#birds#outdoors#photography#photographer#gregpiperarts#turnthetide#earth#planetearth#conservation#saveouroceans#blue#wild#photo#wow#love
