The infamous palace known as Jimmy's palace is actually a holiday home owned by the parsi business tycoon late jimmy gazdar. Several bollywood movies have been shot by this location. Although access is restricted you can hire a private boat and get closeby to the boundaries to get an insight of its majesty.
"जाड़ों की नर्म धूप और आँगन में लेट कर
आँखों पे खींचकर तेरे आँचल (दामन) के साये को
औंधे पड़े रहें कभी करवट लिये हुए
दिल ढूँढता है...
फिर वही फ़ुरसत के रात दिन"
Dil dhoondta hai fir wohi fursat k raat din....
Dida (maternal grandmom / nani) is an ardent fan of Sanjeev Kumar. She used to tell me about the movies she had watched with Dadu (since dadu was in the Air Force, all families had this movie night every Friday) and most probably Dida had never ever missed a 'Sanjeev Kumar film". For me being born in the era of dudes with chocolate faces, macho physique, and awesome or at least standard dancing skills...😉😜, Sanjeev Kumar..was more of a next door uncle than a Hero!!!!so I used to make fun of Dida,
being the eldest grandchild, she tolerated that and loves me in spite of that though 🤣😌... And this song sometimes played on the All India Radio and made me wonder how can anyone love such heroes and such songs?? But later this song became very close to my heart as I could comprehend it's meaning and felt that yes the days which are gone never come back... We can only reminisce and think of those days.. With a strange throbbing feeling in our hearts.. Just like these candies....they remind me of school days, of a man standing outside with a cart full of kala khatta candies, aam papra..then another selling barf ka gola....,and sunny afternoons, ringing of the dismissal bell of our school, rushing out with friends engaged in endless conversations......and Now sometimes when I buy this for my boy..... I pop the kala khatta one into my mouth and get lost in the memories of those "fursat k raat din".......... (P.s. now I know what dida meant when she said she loves this song😌🙂)
P. s. And yes after watching some of Sanjeev Kumar's superhits I now know why he was didas fav hero - he is a brilliant actor and a handsome one too)
